Kakum National Park’s canopy walkway stretches 350 meters across seven suspension bridges, some as high as 40 meters above the forest floor. A rush most weren’t quite prepared for. 🌿
Some in the group felt the nerves more than others, but nobody crossed alone. The group leaned on each other, encouraging, steadying, cheering each step forward, until everyone had made it across. What started as a personal challenge became a shared win for the whole group.
Proud of this group and everything they took on together. Experiences like this stay with you long after the trip ends. 💛💙
Sixteen students, sixteen sacred names. Today we stood on sacred ground, heard the beat of the drums, and were welcomed home by our elders and ancestors. As part of the ceremony, we each took three sips of water and three sips of alcohol, speaking aloud what we drank as a way of acknowledging who we are and standing by what is true. Each of us also received an Akan day name, tied to the day we were born, a piece of identity rooted in centuries of heritage and lineage.
We didn’t just visit Ghana. We reconnected with who we are, reclaimed our roots, and felt a sense of belonging we’ll carry in our hearts forever.
We are endlessly grateful for every lesson, every blessing, and every sacred moment shared together. 🇬🇭❤️

Thank you to everyone who made our Ghana trip possible From Commissioner Rodney Ellis for his vision and support, to Robin Humphries and the TSU Foundation for their generosity, to our guide Nii Solomon of BLASTours for bringing history to life, and to every donor who believed in these students.
This trip sparked curiosity and connection while exposing students to culture and memories that will stay with them for a lifetime. We are endlessly grateful. 💙💛

Week 1 in the books! ✈️🌍🇬🇭
From the Arch at Black Star Square to the shores of Ouidah, our students didn’t just visit West Africa, they walked through history, sat with royalty, danced with strangers who felt like family, and left with a deeper understanding of trust and courage.
This is what “Passport to Leadership” is all about: opening our students’ eyes to the world, to each other, and to parts of themselves they didn’t know were there. Ghana, Togo, and Benin welcomed our OFA family with open arms, and everyone is leaving changed. 💛
More stops, more stories, stay tuned. 👣
Last week, 15 college students from Harris County boarded a plane bound for Ghana ✈️🇬🇭 — the first of our new Passport to Leadership program!
Two weeks. New horizons. Unforgettable memories. Before they left, we sat down with them to hear what this journey means to them. 🎥👇
Passport to Leadership is a One For All Foundation initiative giving Harris County students the chance to travel abroad, immerse themselves in a new culture, and grow as leaders who think critically about global issues.
This is just the beginning. 🌍💛

The journey is underway. 🌍
The first two days of Commissioner Rodney Ellis’ One for All Foundation's student trip offered unforgettable experiences across two countries.
📍 Day 1: Istanbul, Türkiye — A visit to the historic Blue Mosque.
📍 Day 2: Accra, Ghana — A stop at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum to learn about the life and legacy of Ghana's first president.
More moments from the journey to come.
At Lincoln Park, baseball is helping Harris County kids grow on and off the field.
Through the One for All Foundation, grant support from the Astros Foundation, volunteers, and dedicated coaches, young athletes are building confidence, learning new skills, and finding a community that believes in them.

This weekend, we brought together the inaugural cohort of Harris County One For All Foundation's Ghana Immersion Trip for an evening of food and fellowship.
In July, college students from across Harris County will travel through Togo, Ghana, and Benin over the course of 11 days.
This unforgettable trip will connect participants with arts, culture, history, and service-oriented programming, and we can't wait to share it with you!
OFA made this program possible through a collaboration with Texas Southern University Foundation and TWST4Girls.
