Houston Food Bank
America’s largest food bank in distribution leading hunger relief in 18 southeast Texas counties.
🍏Serving Houston and southeast Texas since 1982, Houston Food Bank’s mission is to provide #foodforbetterlives. We provide access to 140 million nutritious meals in 18 counties through our 1,600 community partners of food pantries, soup kitchens, social service providers and schools. Filling gaps on plates, we have a strong focus on healthy foods and fresh produce. In collaboration with our community, we advocate for policy change and racial equity, and promote dialogue on ways to increase access to food and to improve the lives of those in our communities, including services and connections to programs that address the root causes of hunger and are aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability: nutrition education, health management and help with securing state-funded assistance. We are a resource for individuals and families in times of hardship.

🍏❤️🙌
Helping neighbors access food takes more than one moment, one donation or one organization. It takes people across our community working together.
This Hunger Action Month™, we're celebrating the collective impact made possible through Walmart and Sam's Club's Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign. Thanks to shoppers, associates, suppliers, food banks and community partners, more than $221,000 was raised to support our neighbors across Southeast Texas.
But that impact goes beyond campaign dollars. These investments support the work that helps families in our community access food year-round. That means every donation helps power every food pickup, volunteer shift and delivery, and supports the partnerships that connect neighbors with food through our network of more than 1600 partners.
It’s safe to say no one had to twist our arm to dine out during Houston Restaurant Weeks... 👀
As HRW 2026 comes to an end, we want to extend our biggest thank you to the Cleverley Stone Foundation, our participating restaurants, and this incredible community. 💚
Thank you for supporting Houston Food Bank and our neighbors facing food insecurity.
See you next year. 😋
This Hunger Action Month, we’re shining a light on the growing affordability challenges that force families to make impossible choices between food, housing, healthcare, and other basic needs.
Today, we’re proud to break ground on CORE by Houston Food Bank. Built on a 52-acre site generously donated by Chevron, CORE is more than a new facility. It is a launchpad for opportunity, connecting food assistance with health, education, employment, and workforce resources to help families move toward long-term stability.
As food insecurity in our 18-county service area rises to more than 1 million people, we must invest in solutions that address both immediate needs and the root causes of hunger. Together, we can empower families with the food, resources, and support they need to build a stronger future.
