THIS IS A LONG ONE… BUT IT COMES WITH 3 HAPPY ENDINGS! ❤️🐾
WELCOME HOME JACK AND MILLIE ❤️🐾
WELCOME HOME RED ❤️🐾
Millie was reunited with Mom and Dad after 2 days.
Jack was reunited after his 9-day adventure.
And Red was reunited after 2 days (although one of those days was spent in kitty jail 😂).
So, here’s how this whole adventure started…
We had a nice, cool night, and Dad decided to open a window to let in some fresh air. Unfortunately, Dad didn't realize there was NO SCREEN on that window. 🤦♂️
Well… Millie and Jack saw their opportunity and decided it was time for a little vacation! Apparently, the open window was their version of a “Come on out, the adventure awaits!” sign. 😂
Millie, of course, decided she didn't want TOO much adventure.
She got outside and promptly moved into the crawl space. 😂 So while her adventure technically lasted a couple of days, she wasn't exactly out seeing the sights. Mom and Dad eventually found her and got her safely back home. ❤️
Jack, on the other paw…
Jack had apparently purchased the 9-day adventure package. 😂
On Day 6, we got a black cat on camera and thought for sure it was Jack. So we dropped the trap and waited for his return.
Around 2 AM, a black cat showed up at our fancy restaurant.
This cat managed to trip the trap… but somehow remained OUTSIDE of it while still desperately wanting whatever was on the menu. 😂
We called Mom and told her the cat was out front. We asked her to open the front door, put out some yummies, and see if he would come inside.
The cat went straight to her!
Purring, loving on her, and acting like he had never been away a day in his life. ❤️
Except…
IT WASN'T JACK. 😂
But this kitty was so friendly that we couldn't just leave him out there. So we kept him safe for the night and took him to the shelter the next morning to be scanned for a microchip.
Unfortunately, there wasn't one.
Mom posted him on Nextdoor, hoping we could find his family.
And then…
JACKPOT! 🎉
A neighbor just down the street posted that they hadn't seen their black cat since the night before.
They had seen the post from Jack's family saying they had secured a black cat, only to find out it wasn't their Jack.
Turns out, it was RED! ❤️🐾
SO RED WAS REUNITED WITH HIS FAMILY! ❤️🐾
One lost kitty down… one very adventurous kitty still to go.
We talked to Red's mom and asked if she could keep Red safely inside until we could secure Jack.
She agreed. ❤️
NOW… BACK TO JACK.
On Day 3, which is when we got involved, we went to Jack's home to set up cameras and a trap.
When we arrived, Mom told us that while she was outside, she could have sworn she heard Jack meow. It was faint and seemed to be coming from just on the other side of the fence.
We told Mom and Dad to take a walk through the subdivision behind them with a flashlight and see if they could spot him.
They came back and reported that they DID see a cat they believed was Jack!
Unfortunately, Jack wasn't interested in ending his vacation just yet. He took off, and they lost sight of him.
Meanwhile, our fancy restaurant was getting plenty of customers…
Unfortunately, they were SKUNKS AND POSSUMS. 😂
We had plenty of visitors, plenty of empty plates, and absolutely NO JACK.
Since we weren't getting any calls about Jack being spotted roaming around, we decided to start looking farther out.
We asked Dad to check the small patch of woods between their house and the neighboring subdivision — the same area where Mom thought she heard Jack meow and where they had seen those mysterious eyes during their walk.
And then…
DAD SPOTTED JACK! 🎉
Jack took one look at Dad and apparently thought, “Nope! My vacation isn't over yet!”
He took off running and disappeared into a storm drain.
We got Mom over there right away with some of Jack's favorite treats, but Jack wasn't coming out.
So we did what any respectable rescue team would do…
WE OPENED OUR NEW RESTAURANT AND TOOK A RESERVATION FOR JACK. 😂
Jack had a small wait before being seated.
He finally went to his table…
And apparently realized he had forgotten something because he left again for a few minutes.
But when Jack returned…
HIS ADVENTURE WAS OVER! ❤️🐾
I'm not sure Jack is going to give us a 5-star review on the meal, though.
Because the second those trap doors closed, he suddenly had absolutely ZERO interest in dinner. 😂😂😂
And just like that…
THREE HAPPY ENDINGS! ❤️🐾
Millie was home.
Jack was home after his 9-day adventure.
And Red was back home with his family.
Two families got their babies back, one kitty got a safe ride home, and we got a whole lot of skunks, possums, late-night restaurant customers, and one VERY adventurous Jack. 😂
WELCOME HOME, JACK, MILLIE & RED! ❤️🐾
And Jack… next time Dad opens a window, maybe just enjoy the breeze. 😂
Thanks to everyone in the Community that helped keep an eye out for Jack.

WELCOME HOME, RYDER!
Ryder was a Texas street dog who was rescued and brought to Michigan. According to his rescue, he was a total couch potato.
Joe and Kathleen adopted him, and for the first five days, Ryder seemed perfectly happy to continue with that lifestyle. Couch. Food. Family. Life was good. And then… he discovered the garage. Ryder trotted right past Joe and out he went. Joe followed him to Dixie Highway, where Ryder stopped, looked both ways, looked back at Joe, and then crossed the street like a man with somewhere very important to be, and just like that, his 14-day Michigan vacation began.
For the next two weeks, Ryder was living his absolute best life. He crossed every busy road he could find and kept getting farther and farther from home. Apparently, being a couch potato was great, but Ryder had decided he was ready for some sightseeing.
Eventually, Ryder was spotted in a subdivision a few miles from home, in a yard he had already visited TWICE. Perfect! We set up a feeding station. Ryder showed up and ate a feast for 12 long minutes. We were feeling pretty confident. Trap set. Ryder: “Absolutely not.” He casually continued on his way.
He started showing up on Ring cameras more often and eventually made his way to another subdivision a few miles down the road. We set up THREE feeding stations. Ryder didn't hit ONE. Apparently, he had standards.
We decided that from then on, whenever we got a Ring camera sighting, we were going straight to a trap. Ryder clearly wasn't interested in visiting the same place twice, so we had to outsmart a dog who apparently had a very detailed itinerary.
For three days, Ryder was EVERYWHERE in that subdivision. He was seen on Ring cameras, by people walking, and by people driving around. The funniest part? He never ran from anyone. He would just look at them and trot away. “Yeah, I'm good. Thanks.”
He was walking on every street around the trap, but somehow managed to avoid actually going into the trap. He was basically taking a scenic tour of the neighborhood while we stood around wondering if we were ever going to secure him.
On Sunday, we started wondering if the trap being between two houses was making it harder for Ryder to smell the food. So we moved it to an area with a wide-open field, absolutely stunk it up with the good stuff, and left the area. Then the calls started coming in, and within TWO HOURS, Ryder found the trap and walked right in! Of course, once inside, he proceeded to eat the entire smorgasbord we had prepared for him while he waited for his family.
So apparently, the problem wasn't that Ryder didn't like traps. He just needed the right location and menu.
Ryder is now home and adjusting to his new life again. He went to the vet and, surprisingly, had only lost four pounds during his 14-day adventure.
Since coming home, he's been coming out and spending a lot more time with Joe and Kathleen. He even had his first bath.
He's still not quite ready to be trusted with the keys to the house, but we're pretty sure Ryder is going to be an amazing addition to his family. After all, he's already proven that he's very independent, knows how to navigate Michigan traffic, can ignore three feeding stations, and can successfully turn a simple walk outside into a 14-day road trip. But this adventure is officially over.
WELCOME HOME, RYDER! ❤️🐾
Now please stay home. The couch is waiting.

WELCOME HOME RUE ❤️🐾
Sweet Rue had a rough start to life, but thankfully, her story has a MUCH happier ending! ❤️
Rue was at the Jackson County Shelter when Jim and Judy (aka Mom & Dad) went looking for a new family member. After a few visits, they fell completely in love with her and decided she was THE ONE. 🥰
Rue got her freedom ride and headed off to start her new life… except apparently, Rue had a slightly different interpretation of the words “freedom ride.” 😂
First stop was the vet for a checkup and to get this girl officially started on her new life. After seeing the doctor, Jim put Rue in the car, secured her in… and Rue basically said, “Thanks for the ride, guys. I’ll take it from here!” 😲
And OFF SHE WENT! 🏃♀️💨
The community jumped into action. A drone company came out a couple of times to search for her, but unfortunately, Rue managed to remain one step ahead of everyone.
The drone operator suggested bringing in a trapper, so the family reached out for help.
After a couple of weeks without getting Rue to stop at a feeding station, the community suggested us.
So our friend Bob with Aerial Recon Reboot headed out to see if he could work some drone magic. He searched one area… nothing.
He moved farther down the road…
And then…
OH MY GOSH… THERE SHE WAS!!! 😲❤️
Bob called us, and that was all it took. TEAM RUE WAS ON THE MOVE! 🚨🐾
We rushed out and dropped a trap.
And because apparently every rescue operation needs a little comic relief…
ENTER ROCKY RACCOON. 🦝
Rocky decided our trap was actually a five-star restaurant and happily helped himself to dinner at our “Table for One.” He did not, however, have a reservation. 😂
The next morning, we went out and made a few adjustments to the setup.
And those adjustments paid off!
During the night, even with the rain coming down, Rue finally showed up. With the trap safely on SAFE, she went in and out a few times, enjoying every single one of the yummies we had left for her.
YAY, RUE! ❤️
The next morning, we started getting calls about sightings during the night — and wouldn’t you know it, she had actually been seen just a few houses down from where we had the trap set!
We were feeling pretty confident…
Tonight was going to be the night! 🐾
The trap was rebaited, the snacks were ready, and we patiently waited.
Of course, we couldn't just have Rue walk in.
First, a CAT showed up. 🐈
And that cat decided it was time for an all-you-can-eat buffet and proceeded to eat a good portion of Rue’s dinner.
So we added more food.
And apparently, THAT was the magic serving!
Just 27 minutes after adding the fresh food…
RUE SHOWED UP FOR HER RESERVATION! 🎉❤️🐾
And this time, she was safely secured!
After 2 weeks of running, hiding, dodging drones, avoiding feeding stations, and apparently maintaining a very complicated travel itinerary…
Rue was finally going HOME! 🏡❤️
A HUGE thank you to the incredible Community of Chelsea for never giving up on this girl, for sharing sightings, making suggestions, helping search, and continuing to look out for her.
And to everyone who played a part in getting Rue safely home — THANK YOU! ❤️
Rue is now home with Mom and Dad and finally getting to experience what life is supposed to be like for a dog who is SO very loved.
No more running.
No more hiding.
No more dodging drones.
No more raccoons stealing your dinner. 😂
Just lots of love, safety, yummy food, soft beds, and a family who will never stop looking for you. ❤️🐾
WELCOME HOME, RUE!
Your freedom ride may have taken the scenic route… but you finally made it. ❤️🏡🐾

WELCOME HOME ZOEY ❤️🐾
Zoey’s family was having a birthday party when, in the middle of all the fun, someone accidentally left the side garage door open. 🤦♀️
And Zoey apparently thought, “Well, since everyone is busy partying… I believe I shall go on an adventure!” 😂
And just like that, Zoey was off!
Jon and Katie (AKA Mom & Dad) jumped right into action. Flyers were made and distributed, social media posts went up, and the calls started coming in with sightings.
They contacted our friend Bob at Aerial ReCon - Reboot, who came out to help search from the sky. And wouldn't you know it… they spotted Zoey running across Wardlow!
Jon was able to get close, but Zoey had other plans. She wasn't quite ready to end her little vacation, so she took off running again. Apparently, “Come home, Zoey!” was not on her itinerary. 😂
Then… she disappeared for a few days.
And honestly, who could blame her with those crazy storms that rolled through? 🌧️ Once the weather cleared up, the calls started coming in again. Zoey was still in the same general area!
Then came the scary call… 😳
Zoey had crossed over to the OTHER side of M-59. Then she was spotted running BACK across to the other side.
At this point, Zoey was apparently determined to make sure everyone got their steps in. 😳😂
That evening, Bob decided to come out for one more quick look.
And within just a few minutes of getting in the air…
THERE SHE WAS!
Zoey was laying down, taking a nice little nap. 💤
Bob called Jon immediately and told him to RUN home and get Penny — Zoey’s best friend and our very own SUPER DOG! 🦸♀️🐾
Jon attached a tie-out to Penny, wrapped it around his waist, and headed into the area where Zoey was sleeping.
Zoey lifted her head, looking a little unsure about this whole situation.
Then she saw Penny.
And that was it. ❤️
Zoey decided maybe this adventure had gone on long enough and slowly made her way toward her best friend.
What happened next was pure happiness. 🥹❤️
The two girls were wiggling, jumping, and having the BEST reunion. Tails were wagging, bodies were bouncing, and you could practically hear them saying, “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!?” 🐾😂
After a couple minutes of playing with her best friend, Jon called Zoey’s name.
She stopped.
Looked at him…
And RAN STRAIGHT TO HIM! ❤️😭
And just like that, Zoey’s big adventure was finally over.
HOME. SAFE. LOVED. ❤️🐾
A HUGE job well done to Jon and Katie for never giving up, to Bob at Aerial ReCon - Reboot for spotting her from the air, and especially to Penny the Super Dog — because sometimes the best rescue tool you have has four legs, a wagging tail, and a best friend who knows exactly what to do. 🦸♀️🐾❤️
WELCOME HOME, ZOEY!
Your vacation has officially ended. 😂❤️🐾

🏡 WELCOME HOME, REESE! 🐾❤️
(Previously known as London)
Reese had only been at her new foster home for about TWO HOURS when she decided she had other plans. 😂
This 5-month-old little escape artist somehow slipped right out of her harness AND collar and took off running through the neighborhood. She was spotted on the next street over, but every time her foster mom, Jennifer, tried to get close, Reese would make a beeline straight into the woods.
Because apparently, at just 5 months old, Reese had already decided she was an independent woman who didn't need anybody. 🤦♀️😂
Jennifer reached out to us for help. By then, Reese had been missing for about 6 hours, and understandably, Jennifer was worried. After all, Reese had only been in her home for two hours. Would she remember where home was? Would she come back?
We told Jennifer to STINK UP THE HOUSE! 😂 Get out all the smelly, irresistible things that might make Reese think, "Okay...maybe these people aren't so bad after all."
We also got a plan together and headed out to help.
Reese did make an appearance a couple of times, but naturally, every time Jennifer went toward her, Reese said, "Thanks, but I'll take the woods!" 🏃♀️🌲
So we set up a trap and a camera with some nice, smelly food.
And let us tell you...this girl was INVESTED. 😂
Within about 7 minutes of us setting everything up, Reese was already investigating. She even sat by the grill and watched us set the trap up the entire time. She made numerous trips back to check things out.
Meanwhile, Jennifer started making little food trails leading toward the house using wet canned food. And Reese apparently has excellent taste because she REALLY liked that wet food.
So we put some of it inside the trap.
And guess what?
REESE WALKED RIGHT IN! 🎉🎉🎉
She completely ignored the sausages we had so carefully provided and went straight for the wet food. 😂
Once she realized the door had closed behind her, she gave us a little BURP and made it very clear that she would now like to discuss the terms of her release. 😂
Jennifer went out, secured Reese, and finally got this little escape artist safely back inside.
But here's the BEST part...
It appears Reese has found her FOREVER HOME! ❤️
Jennifer and her family have officially become FOSTER FAILS! 🥰
And honestly, there is no greater way to fail at fostering than by falling completely in love with a puppy who has already proven she can outsmart you, outrun you, disappear into the woods, and then walk herself into a trap for canned food. 😂
WELCOME HOME, REESE! 🏡❤️
We have a feeling this little girl knew exactly what she was doing all along. 🐾
Happy forever, sweet girl! ❤️

New Beginning for this Sweet Girl 💕🐾
We had been seeing posts about a Great Dane running around Farmington Hills on Saturday, but unfortunately, no one from our team was available to help at the time. By Tuesday morning, we saw a post on For The Love of Louie saying she had been hit by a car. We felt awful—and yes, a little guilty—that we hadn’t been able to step in sooner.
Then came a plot twist.......
Someone working at the urgent care commented that the story wasn’t true. She said she was literally looking at the dog out the window, watching her run up and down Grand River all day. In the heat. Like it was her full-time job.
Now we were really worried.
So Kim headed out to the area to see if we could help secure this girl before something bad actually did happen. Several amazing women in the neighborhood had been tracking her movements—behind the cancer center, near the old Walgreens, around the urgent care, and through multiple side streets. She kept circling the same general area, which made us think she had likely been dumped and no one was actively looking for her.
Step one: set up a trap.
Step two: immediately watch that plan get complicated.
While we were setting things up, people started chasing her (because of course they did), and she ended up crossing Grand River and running into the median. We lost sight of her and decided to place the trap behind the urgent care, where she had been hanging out.
Spoiler alert: not a great location.
There was constant foot traffic between the apartments and the urgent care, and people kept stopping at the trap. Well-meaning folks were even leaving food out for her—which, while kind, makes trapping about as effective as trying to diet in a bakery.
So the next day, we moved the trap.
We got word that she had been resting in someone’s backyard, and thankfully, the homeowner agreed to let us set up there. With help from some awesome neighborhood girls, we relocated everything. It turned out that several of the backyards weren’t fenced off from each other, so she had her own little highway system—and yes, multiple yards had chickens. Surprisingly, she had zero interest in them. Honestly, we were impressed.
She showed up at the trap Wednesday night, sniffed around, then casually went back to her usual nap spot like, “Nice try, humans.” She stayed all night and then resumed her neighborhood tour the next morning.
When she ignored the food in the trap, we knew she was being fed elsewhere. Between the feeding and the chasing, we realized this could take a while. It started to feel very familiar—hello, Dune flashbacks. (For those who remember, he was on the run for eight weeks, plus an extra three weeks to trap him… because people kept feeding and chasing him. Sound familiar?)
So we did what we could: we stayed out there, educated people, and put up signs everywhere saying: “DO NOT ENGAGE OR FEED DOG! TRAPPING IN PROGRESS!”
Slowly but surely, people started listening.
Meanwhile, every time she was spotted, her tongue was hanging out, she was getting thinner, and the heat was relentless. We knew we had to act fast.
She visited the trap three more times over the next couple of days. We loaded it with food—inside, outside, under the door, across the threshold—you name it. She ate everything except the part that required actually going into the trap. It became very clear: she was not falling for the 72” trap.
So, we made the call to switch to the Missy trap.
On Sunday, Kathi brought her dog Sunny out along with a squeaky toy. Our girl showed interest and even followed them for a bit—progress!—but then got distracted when things got noisy again.
By this point, fewer people were chasing her, and Kim was getting steady calls with sightings. Things were finally starting to work in our favor.
On Monday, we saw her approach a man at the apartments. If he’d had food, he might have been able to secure her right then and there. We got permission to set up a trap at a nearby house, hoping the quieter setting would help.
It didn’t.
Too much activity again.
So we went back to our original (better) location plan.
Then came Tuesday morning—the turning point.
Kathi arrived early and spotted her. She grabbed a ball and started playing. And just like that, the dog engaged. She chased the ball, came close, took food from Kathi’s hand, and even allowed some petting. But the second a slip lead came into play? Nope. Not happening.
Enter Robert, a nearby resident who offered his fenced yard.
Kathi basically said, “We’re going for it,” ran toward the yard—and the dog followed her right in.
Game on.
Kathi managed to corner her and get a slip lead on. It was immediately obvious this dog had never been on a leash before. She rolled like an alligator trying to escape, but we were able to get a second slip lead on her and help her settle down in the corner. She was absolutely terrified, but never aggressive.
After about three hours of working with her and figuring out next steps, it was decided she would go to Oakland County Animal Shelter.
Getting her into the car? That was a team sport.
It took four people, three slip leads, and a towel under her belly to lift her in. But once inside—with the air conditioning on—she relaxed completely. Total angel.
She truly is an amazing girl. Sweet, gentle, just very scared. She received her vaccinations and is now safe. We’re hopeful a rescue will step up soon to place her in a foster home where she can finally decompress and learn what it means to be loved.
Kathi named her Diamond—and it fits perfectly.
We’ll continue to share updates as we get them.
A huge thank you to Farmington Hills PD, Corewell Security, Paige, Andrew, Gabby, Kimberly, Katie, Kristi, Morgan, Robert, and everyone who called in sightings, helped with signs, and supported this effort in any way.
This one truly took a village.
And now, thanks to that village—Diamond is safe, secure, and ready for her new beginning.

WELCOME HOME TOPAZ ❤️ 🐾
This post is way overdue. Even though she's safe and sound and living her best life now, it wasn't looking that way a few months ago. Here's her story. Better late than never, right?
Topaz is finally home after her 12-day adventure… and apparently her solo tour of Ypsilanti is now complete! 🐾
After moving to Michigan, Topaz had only been with her family for about a month before deciding, “You know what? I should really explore the neighborhood… extensively.” With woods behind the house and plenty of curiosity, she spotted her moment—and took off like a tiny, furry explorer.
For 10 days, she was basically a legend. No sightings, no clues… just Topaz living her best independent life. Then suddenly—BOOM—Erin spots her casually hanging out under a big tree in the front yard like she’d never left. 😅
Erin reached out to animal control, and Officer Meres pointed her our way. Kim came out to investigate, got the grand tour from Erin and her son, and confirmed Topaz had been splitting her time between the front yard and the woods—clearly keeping a very busy schedule.
We set a trap in the backyard, and it didn’t take long for Miss Adventure to show up. She strolled right in… and the trap didn’t close. Of course. Because Topaz wasn’t quite done keeping things interesting.
After a quick reset and some extra premium, hot, stinky cuisine (Topaz-approved, apparently), she couldn’t resist. Round two: success!
After nearly two weeks on the run, she came home a little skinny, a little tired, but otherwise in great shape—and probably with some stories she’s not ready to share.
Welcome home, princess. Next time, maybe just stick to the backyard with your family in tow.💕🐶

On to a Better Life, Red! ❤️🐾
For months, people had been posting sightings of this handsome young pup. He was like the neighborhood celebrity—everyone had seen him, everyone had a story, but nobody could actually get close enough to help. He was basically the Bigfoot of the blueberry fields.
A few nights ago, the wonderful family at Hazen Blueberry Farm posted a video of Red stopping by for a BIG drink of water. They shared that they had been seeing him on and off for months. Being the huge dog lovers they are, they knew this sweet boy deserved a better future.
Sunday morning, we reached out and learned Red had visited every night for the last four nights. The blueberry patch closed at 7 p.m. and wasn't open Monday...
PURRFECT...well, PAWFECT! Quiet, peaceful, and no customers wondering why there was a giant dog trap sitting next to the blueberries.
So we dropped the trap around 7 p.m. and settled in for the waiting game.
Red's usual dinner reservation was between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. But apparently nobody told Red that schedules are important. Saturday he showed up around 9:00 p.m. Sunday? He made us earn it, strolling in around 10:30 p.m. like he owned the place. Fortunately, the "all-you-can-eat buffet" inside the trap was just too tempting to pass up.
Once secured, the Hazen family welcomed him inside. It took Red about three seconds to decide, "You know what...being an inside dog isn't such a bad gig." Suddenly, he wanted nothing but pets, belly rubs, and to make up for months of missed cuddles. Turns out the tough little survivalist was really just a giant love bug.
The Hazen family took him to the vet, where he received a clean bill of health so far.
They've been searching everywhere to see if anyone comes forward to claim him...although we're starting to think Red may have already picked his family. ❤️
This is what an amazing community looks like. So many people kept watching out for this sweet pup, sharing sightings, hoping someone could finally get him to safety. Every single person played a part in getting Red off the streets and into a home filled with love.
A huge THANK YOU to Tony, Nina, and the entire Hazen Blueberry Farm family for opening your hearts and helping this beautiful boy. We have a feeling Red thinks he hit the jackpot...and honestly, we think he did.
Hazen Blueberry Farm has started a GoFundMe to help with Red's medical care and neuter. If you'd like to help, please visit their page or the link below.
Now go enjoy the good life, Red. Just remember...the blueberry buffet is officially closed. 🫐🐶❤️

On to a better life for these two. ❤️🐾
We received a call from Animal Control in Washtenaw County about two beautiful pups that had been dumped and had been roaming the area for several days. Since Animal Control didn't have the larger traps we use, they called us for backup. Of course, we were happy to help.
Quite a few people had spotted them, but these two clearly weren't ready to turn themselves in.
A wonderful young lady, Emma, had been trying to help with a trap that was a little too small. She even got the big guy to take food from her hand...then he thanked her by chasing her back to her car. We like to think he was just asking for seconds.
Monday, we headed out to set a trap, only to learn they had moved on. They had been hanging around a gentleman's home, Alex's, about an hour before we arrived, so we set up feeding stations and crossed our fingers.
Monday night? Nothing.
Well...nothing except they apparently decided Alex's chickens looked like they were on the dinner menu. Two chickens later, they enjoyed a lovely meal across the street. Sorry, Alex.
On Tuesday, we set two traps side by side and left them on "safe" so each dog could investigate without trying to squeeze into the same trap. These two do everything together, but sharing a trap wasn't part of the plan.
That afternoon, our big boy showed up, walked into both traps, sampled every snack we left, and left us a glowing five-star breakfast review. Still no sign of the female, though, which had us a little worried.
Around 5:30 Tuesday evening, both dogs were spotted in front of Alex's house, so we hurried back and set the traps live.
Tuesday night's only customer? A cat. Who spent about 30 minutes inspecting the buffet before leaving without making a reservation.
Then Wednesday morning, right on schedule at 6:30, breakfast guests arrived.
The big guy marched right into the trap like he had a standing reservation. The little lady took a few extra minutes, watched him stuffing his face, and finally decided, "Well...if he's eating, I guess it's safe."
Click. Click.
Breakfast was served...with complimentary room service.
Both dogs are incredibly sweet and very bonded. They've now been taken to the Humane Society of Huron Valley for their required stray hold. If no owner comes forward, they'll eventually be available for adoption.
Our biggest wish is that they get to stay together. After surviving on the run, dodging capture, raiding chicken dinners, and keeping us all on our toes, they've more than earned a safe home, full bellies, and a family who will love them both forever. ❤️🐶🐶
Special thanks to the following....Officer Meers for asking us to help. Emma for always being on standby and helping with whatever was needed
Melissa, Candice and Brad for watching and helping when needed.
Especially to Alex for allowing us to set up on his property, sacrificing a couple chickens, and keeping his animals locked up for a day to allow us to safetly secure these two.
We couldn't have done this without all of your
help.
