Turtle Valley Plot Twist. Ailis had a baby yesterday. Only I told you Ailis had a baby last Tuesday. Here she is licking that baby that she has been taking care of all week, while new feet emerge from behind. Apparently she stole baby #1, while her real mom Adair hung out at the spa or the bar all week. Thankfully this morning each cow has a baby, so all sorted.
Surprised to find a standing dry heifer calf this morning with Ailis. It is 95 degrees today but they are in the shade of the barn and relaxed. Just 332 days from her last calf, she was busy for an old lady.

Summer of Gotland wool sweaters continues. I cast off the all over cables sweater (the last of the lambs wool fi*****ng yarn 😟). I started a stranded colorwork sweater with the DK weight 2-ply, some of it dyed a deep plum color. This wool is so versatile.
Flying lessons today.
Checking in on the Purple Martin nesting gourds again. The babies seem to be handling the heat and growing. Probably still a couple weeks from first flying lessons.
19 babies and 15 eggs in 8 Purple Martin gourds. Facing a hot week so hoping for the best. Fledging in 26-32 days expected. My favorite show.

It was worth getting up a bit early for this beauty.

The newest Gotland yarn from the mill, a 2-ply Bulky weight on size 8 needles. Satisfying and pretty quick project (one piece “Dagmar” pattern on Ravelry).
