Sundays aren’t always fun days—especially in this line of work. You think you’ve got it all figured out, then Mother Nature, or whatever the hell is going on down in the ground, says otherwise. 😂

I’m blessed to have some damn good friends with a lot of knowledge who are always willing to lend a hand and help me work through the tough ones.

After a little Sunday fun, i got it figured out—and ended up with a good-producing well.

Kind of cool—I’ve always been fascinated by old-school technology. I pulled the pump on the right from a service job Saturday. It’s a 1970 Reda ½-horsepower submersible pump, and it’s now the oldest one in my little collection.

I was actually surprised to see that it wasn’t brass. Sitting next to it is a 2017 Grundfos ½-horsepower pump.

It’s pretty amazing to see the difference in size and dimensions between the two, and how much pump technology has changed over the years. A pretty cool piece of well history! 🔧💧

With the rain pouring down on this Saturday morning, you’re kind of wishing that service call was just a pressure switch. 😂 Unfortunately, we couldn’t get that lucky!

Our little town got hit pretty hard by the storm Wednesday night and there were a few local hobby farms that needed some water. I’ve got 3,000 gallons on the water truck. 💦🚚

Yes, it was actually still working properly. Yes, it was a flood hazard, but this was a 20-gallon tank and fittings that were quoted at $2,850 by a corporate water softener company to replace for an older couple. 😡

For the most part, the well companies I know and work with want you as a customer for life. We charge accordingly for our work, but we don’t come into your house one time, charge you an outrageous price, and hope we never see you again.

That’s why I always encourage people to get a second opinion, do your research, and use your local well guy. You might be surprised at the difference in pricing and service.

That’s my rant for the day. 🤬

I just don’t like seeing older people getting taken advantage of. 😡😡😡 …..PS the 32 gallon tank was 3300.

We had a pretty bad storm roll through our area last Saturday, and we ended up with four jobs where lightning damaged and power surges took out the pumps.

On this particular job, I was a little skeptical about raising the tower to pull the pump because of the lightning but we got everything worked out and got the job done.

It’s always a pleasure to receive a review like this—especially from someone you weren’t sure you were going to hear from. It makes all the hard work worth it! 🇺🇸💦
