📢QUESTION for Huntsville, Alabama 🗣️❓
For us newcomers, name a major natural disaster you've experienced here that left you without power for multiple days.
Were you prepared?
How did you survive?
A huge thank you to 48 News and Anjolina Fantaroni WAFF 48 for helping us bring attention to what families in Gary, Indiana are dealing with right now. They are approaching day 10 with no power throughout the entire Lake County ❤️
At 1 Source Preparedness Training , we spend every day teaching people how important it is to be ready before an emergency happens, and this is a real-life example of why preparedness matters. As Indiana Natives that are now proud to call Huntsville home, we need help extending any available resources that can assist vulnerable populations with staying safe.
Right now we’re collecting simple items people desperately need. We are driving to Indiana to personally put the supplies directly in the hands of the residents at their homes.
Local residents in Northwest Indiana are requesting the following:
batteries, flashlights, tap lights, handheld fans, portable chargers, power banks and solar-powered lights or chargers.
The photo below is an example of how even less than $10 at Dollar Tree can put together several useful emergency items. No supply gift is too small.

Thank you in advance for all the support, my Alabama I-65 cousins. ❤️

We came to Huntsville,AL in 2023. In December 2024 a family event caused us to move back to our hometown after being gone for 27 years.
After an 18 month battle we decided to leave Gary, Indiana in March 2026. The City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government proved itself to be a better environment and quality of life for children and small businesses. Leaving was bittersweet but the current conditions are exactly why we made Huntsville, AL our choice.
The commitment to public safety being top priority here is evident. The way communication lines flow when emergencies happen is also very organized and immediate.
We feel so grateful to be here right now, but it's also mixed with survivor's remorse. 🥺
They are on day 9 without power. There are many people who are stuck at home due to age or disability. They are in desperate need of batteries, flashlights, charging Banks and cleaning supplies.
We are leaving Huntsville, Alabama this weekend and taking as much as we can haul. We can pick up donations anywhere around the Huntsville/Madison County area through Friday.
We are not accepting cash. If you’d like to help with food or gas for the trip, grocery and gas gift cards are appreciated too.

Hey Huntsville! I need a little help for our northern I-65 cousins ❤️
This is day 8 of NO POWER in my hometown of Gary, Indiana! They were hit hard by the tornado and storms on August 11.
I’m heading up there this weekend and would love to take some supplies with me. Things like non-perishable food, hygiene items, baby supplies, batteries, flashlights, cleaning supplies, paper products, pet food, and other basic necessities would be greatly appreciated. I’m available to pick up donations around Huntsville through Friday.
I’m not accepting cash, but if anyone wants to help me with food or gas for the trip, I will gladly accept grocery or gas gift cards.
