Domestic violence happens far more often than many people realize. Every call represents someone who may be scared, hurt or unsure of what comes next.

When HPD officers respond, their work doesn’t end when the call does. We help connect victims and families with resources and support through partnerships with organizations like Crisis Services of North Alabama, National Children's Advocacy Center and the Madison County Department of Human Resources, along with other community organizations and groups.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we’re using this month to bring more attention to the realities of domestic violence, the resources available and the support that’s out there for those who need it.

Raising awareness starts with recognizing that domestic violence can happen to anyone, and that no one should have to face it alone.

Evening and Sunday CPR classes are hard to find. Most companies only teach weekday mornings. We teach when you are actually free.

Every Sunday at 2:00 PM: BLS for Healthcare or CPR AED and First Aid.
Weekday evenings until 6:30 PM, seven days a week.

We checked current job postings around town. A medical assistant opening lists CPR or BLS certification as required. A home health physical therapist role requires current CPR certification. A certified nursing assistant posting wants CPR within three months of hire. Local security roles list CPR and first aid as preferred, and preferred is what separates two good candidates.

It is usually the smallest line on the posting and the first thing that screens you out.

Huntsville, a new Alabama law just opened classroom doors for our veterans.

As of October 1, Senate Bill 149 lets eligible veterans earn a Military Veteran Temporary Teaching Certificate and begin teaching in Alabama schools. With Redstone Arsenal in our backyard, plenty of those new educators will be our neighbors.
