NAMASTE DAY UPDATE — PLEASE READ ‼️

We’ve received many messages from applicants wondering whether they were selected for our October 3rd community spay & neuter clinic. We know waiting for an answer can be frustrating, so here’s the update:

If you did not receive a confirmation, unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate your pet during this event. We received far more applications than the number of appointments available and we know that can be incredibly disappointing. ❤️

Please don’t give up.

We’re keeping the information from applicants we couldn’t accommodate so we can better understand the need in our community and hopefully reach out about future opportunities when possible.

231 applications representing 900+ individual pets made one thing abundantly clear: the need in our community is HUGE.

Walter is going home. ❤️

There was a time when we didn’t know if we’d ever get to say those words.

Our little senior came to us nearly bald, with infected skin, infected teeth, and a body that hurt. At an age when he should have already known what it meant to be someone’s beloved old dog, Walter needed rescue.

Then a foster said yes.

His skin healed. His hair grew back. He started feeling better. And somewhere along the way, our tired little senior started acting like a new man. 🥹

On Friday, Walter took another step toward the life he deserved. He has a mom waiting for him.

And Walter wasn’t the only one.

36 dogs moved closer to home on Friday.

Four six-month-old Great Pyrenees who had simply grown too big to be the tiny puppies everyone wanted.

A little pit bull we rescued just this week who made everyone she met fall in love.

Seven plain brown dogs who might have been easy to overlook in a crowded shelter.

But someday, each of them will be the dog.

The dog sleeping on someone’s couch.
The dog waiting at the door.
The dog whose family can’t imagine life without them.

They just needed someone to see them.
Someone to say yes.
Someone to keep them safe long enough to find their people.

That’s what rescue is.

And sometimes, one little yes changes everything. ❤️

We are tired. We are grateful. And we are so incredibly proud of every dog who took that next step toward home.

We Don’t Look Away.

Those glamour photos you see of happy, frolicking puppies available for adoption?

Yeah… there’s usually a LOT of TLC that happens before the camera ever comes out. ❤️

Meet the K Litter! Six puppies who arrived at the shelter as strays in heartbreaking condition. They were covered in f***s and fleas, heavily burdened by parasites and their little gums were pale from the toll it was taking on their bodies. They were hungry, neglected and in desperate need of someone to step in.

And that’s exactly what happened.

A Good Samaritan got them to the safety of the shelter. The shelter reached out for rescue help. And Luna Farms said YES. 🐾

What you see in the first photos of a rescue puppy isn’t always where their story begins.

Sometimes, before the cuddly adoption photos, there are baths.
There are parasite treatments.
There are medications, nutritious meals, clean beds, veterinary care, and a whole lot of patience.
There are people willing to get their hands dirty so a puppy can finally feel safe.

The K Litter has a rescue commitment and will be traveling north on October 2nd, where their journey will continue with their rescue partner and, eventually, their search for forever homes. 🏡

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing their journey from reality to Instagram-worthy, showing you the transformation that happens at every stop along the way.

Because behind every adorable rescue puppy photo is a story you may never see. And for every puppy who gets a second chance, there are hundreds more still waiting for someone to notice them.

This is why rescue matters.
This is why we say yes.
And this is just the beginning for the K Litter. 🐶

895 DOGS. And we’re not done yet. 🐶

Luna Farms family, we need you to stop for a moment and take this in.

In all of 2025, Luna Farms saved 861 dogs.

Today, September 23, 2026, our team across Pennsylvania and Alabama has already saved 895 dogs. 🥹

That’s 895 dogs who were given another chance because someone said, “I’ll help.”

Someone opened their home and fostered.
Someone drove a transport.
Someone coordinated a rescue pull.
Someone cleaned crates.
Someone filled out paperwork.
Someone answered messages late at night.
Someone made the phone calls.
Someone showed up early.
Someone stayed late.
Someone donated.
Someone shared a post.
Someone simply stepped up when they were needed.

Every single one of those things matters.

Because behind every number is a dog who is alive, safe, loved, and getting a chance at the life they deserve.

And the most incredible part?

We still have more than three months left in the year.

This number belongs to all of us: the fosters, transporters, volunteers, coordinators, adopters, donors, supporters, partner rescues, and every person who has helped Luna Farms say YES to one more dog.

This doesn’t happen because of one person.

It happens because of a team.

895 dogs.
895 second chances.
895 lives changed.

Please take a moment to be proud of what we’ve accomplished together.

We sure are.

And then… we keep going. ❤️

Meet Lynard. A senior who finally knows what it feels like to be loved. 🐶

The nature of rescue is that every dog who crosses our path needs something: medical care, TLC, socialization, patience, or simply someone willing to say, “You matter.”

Sadly, there are more dogs who need help than any rescue has the resources to save. But every once in a while, a dog comes along who pulls so deeply at our hearts that we know we have to say YES.

Lynard was that dog.

His body tells the story of long-term neglect, and we don’t know how long he was on his own or what he endured. But one thing was clear: he needed us.

Thanks to the support of the The Grey Muzzle Organization Incubator Grant, we were able to say YES to Lynard. Truthfully, we would have found a way to say yes to this boy no matter what. ❤️

And what have we learned about him?

✨ HAPPY
✨ GOOFY
✨ LOVES people
✨ Calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet

It’s obvious Lynard didn’t have people who loved him in his past, but you’d never know it from the way he loves people today. And those puppy-dog eyes? 🥹

We swear he’s aging in reverse! Look at the difference in our boy already. 😭

We’re giving Lynard everything he needs to heal and reach his full potential, including sending off a DNA test to help us better understand our mystery boy and care for him in the best way possible. 🧬

Right now, we have several dogs who simply need a temporary place to land, decompress, grow, heal, and be loved until they leave on transport. And this is only our short and immediate list, we always have a need for fosters!

60 lbs and currently underweight • Needs some extra TLC, patience, and time to heal.

And remember: Fostering doesn’t have to be forever. Sometimes, you just have to be the safe place that gets a dog from here to home.

We are absolutely overwhelmed, in the best way, by the response from our community. ❤️

So far, we have received 231 applications representing more than 900 individual pets seeking spay/neuter appointments for our upcoming Namaste Day on October 3rd!

That incredible response also means that all appointment spots will be filled before we are able to process every application we’ve received.

📩 What happens next?
Our team will be reviewing applications and contacting applicants sometime this week to let you know your status and whether you received an appointment for October 3rd.

And if you don’t receive an October 3rd appointment, please don’t feel discouraged. Your application still matters.

The number of applications we received is a powerful demonstration of just how significant the need for accessible spay/neuter services is in our community. Because of this overwhelming response, we want to continue working with veterinary and community partners to identify additional opportunities to help get more pets altered.

Walter’s story is just beginning! 📖

Senior dogs like Walter are getting a second chance, not because their age suddenly became less important, but because someone decided their age shouldn’t determine their future.

When Walter came to Luna Farms, we knew he might be harder to place and that his needs could be greater. But instead of asking, “Is he too old?” we asked:

“What does Walter need and how do we get him there?”

That question is at the heart of Senior Encore Pups. 🐶

And today, we’re incredibly excited to share that Luna Farms Rescue has been selected to receive an Incubator Grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization! 🎉

This funding will help us grow and strengthen Senior Encore Pups! Allowing us to provide more senior dogs with the veterinary care, recovery time, placement support, and individualized planning they need to safely move into their next chapter.

The Grey Muzzle Organization’s Incubator Grant program helps organizations build their capacity to serve senior dogs and strengthens the lifesaving network of senior-dog programs across the country.

We are incredibly grateful to The Grey Muzzle Organization and its supporters for investing in this work and for believing in dogs like Walter.

Because getting older shouldn’t mean running out of chances.

It shouldn’t mean being overlooked.
It shouldn’t mean being left behind.
And it certainly shouldn’t mean their story is over.

What if we could prevent tomorrow’s unwanted litters today?

This October, Luna Farms Rescue is joining the Jason Heigl Foundation for Namaste Day 2026! A community spay and neuter event created to help families get their beloved pets fixed and prevent unintended litters before they happen. 🐶🐱💕

Our goal is BIG:

✨ Approximately 50 dogs and cats spayed or neutered in ONE day.

These aren’t shelter pets. They’re beloved family pets who will go right back home to the people who love them, just without the possibility of contributing to another unplanned litter.

And that matters.

Because every litter we prevent means fewer puppies and kittens entering an already overwhelmed shelter and rescue system.

That’s prevention. And prevention changes what happens tomorrow. 🐾
