Hutto Fire Rescue

We know. We know. That off-brand charger was so much cheaper. 😏 But if it wasn’t made for your device or approved by the manufacturer, did you know it can actually damage the battery and increase the risk of a fire?

That means the $10 you saved could cost you a lot more in the long run if your charger or device overheats, sparks, or catches fire.

It's Fire Prevention Week!

This year, Hutto Fire Rescue is teaming up with Sparky and the NFPA to put the spotlight on something many of us use every day: lithium-ion batteries. ⚡️🔋 From phones and tablets to e-bikes and power tools, these batteries are everywhere, and a few simple charging habits can help keep them from becoming a fire hazard.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing some easy ways to charge safely and recognize potential battery problems before they become a bigger issue.

🌧️ Rain is in the forecast for Williamson County this week.

It’s a good time to review a few flood safety basics:
• Stay weather aware and check conditions before you travel.
• Never drive through a flooded road. Turn around, don’t drown.
• Follow road closures and never drive around barricades.
