UF IFAS Best Management Practices Program
Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) are practical measures that producers can take to prot All BMP Program comments are made by BMP Program designees.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services Best Management Practice Program intends to educate, inform and provide updated information on BMP Program activities and to support and promote the BMP Program objectives for these activities through its social media site. This site is not a public forum. Social media users may share ideas through commentary that is consistent with and furthers the objectives of a BMP Program post and the University of Florida reserves the right to remove any comments that do not fall within this purpose. UF Campus Operations Closure The University of Florida will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Sept. 30, because of Hurricane Ian. Only essential university personnel should report for work during that time.

Cover Crops Help Growers Meet BMP Goals Dr. Danielle Treadwell was the first speaker of the 2020 BMP Summit, which is occurring April 7th through June 23rd. She discussed how cover crops are a tool that can help growers meet BMP goals and how to manage covers in fruit and vegetable systems.

We follow Paulette Tomlinson, the Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension Agent in Columbia County, as she visits a livestock producer. She was awarded a BMP Mini-Grant to provide soil and hay sampling for livestock producers. This opened the door to begin discussions on Best Management Practices in hay production.
