IIndianapolis Ballet kicks off the 26/27 season with 7 works, 5 world-premieres, and one very close-up look at the artistry, athleticism, and creativity of our incredible artists.

Expect unexpected encounters, big questions, fresh perspectives, and stories about the connections that shape our lives.

Indianapolis Ballet celebrates milestone season An unforgettable, up-close look at world-class dance is coming to downtown Indianapolis this weekend.

A NEW IB CHAPTER // We’re thrilled to welcome Julia Erickson as the new Artistic Director of Indianapolis Ballet, beginning November 16, 2026!

An acclaimed dancer, choreographer, educator, collaborator, and arts leader, Julia brings more than 25 years of professional experience and a passion for creating meaningful connections through dance. She becomes only the second Artistic Director in Indianapolis Ballet’s history, following our founder Victoria Lyras’s nearly 20 years of leadership.

“I’m thrilled to lead Indianapolis Ballet into its next chapter," Erickson said. "My vision is to bring bold artistic work to the stage, champion our dancers, and deepen our connection with the Indianapolis community as we help shape the future of this art form into a more expansive, deeply shared human experience.”

We’re excited to welcome Julia to our Indianapolis Ballet family and look ahead to all that this next chapter will bring for our dancers, students, families, supporters, and audiences.

🎄‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Bring the magic of the holidays to life with Indianapolis Ballet at Avon Washington Township Public Library!

Join us for a special 45-minute family program featuring live storytelling and dance inspired by ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. After the performance, young artists can join the dancers for an interactive ballet class, learning basic ballet positions and choreography from "The Nutcracker!" 🩰

Plus, enjoy a Q&A with the dancers, interactive activities, and photo opportunities with the artists.

✨ SIX-WEEK CREATIVE MOVEMENT MINI SERIES! ✨

We’re excited to offer a special six-week Creative Movement mini series for young dancers ages 3–6! This short-term session is a fun way for little dancers to experience Creative Movement in a focused six-week format, complete with a special showcase finale.

📅 Six-Week Mini Series Begins | Monday, October 5
👧 Ages 3–6

Taught by Jackie Virgin, Indianapolis School of Ballet faculty member and Butler University dance faculty, this class gives young dancers the opportunity to explore movement, music, and imagination in a fun and welcoming environment.

Parents are welcome to attend, making it a great way to experience class together and watch your little dancer build confidence and creativity.

And there’s a special finale! 🎉 The six-week mini series will conclude with a showcase on the final class, where dancers can share what they’ve been learning with their families.

What to wear: Comfy clothes + ballet shoes or socks.
