See one of the major reasons for rehoming cats is allergies. Here is a good list of how to help that especially if they have just “started”.

Allergies can be manageable and often does require cleaning (dusting frequently) and changes (keeping windows closed, not burning candles, frequent dog bathing, changes in cat litter, no curtains, etc.)

Today was another good day! YTD #256

We are taking a short break for me to have a few days away.

Duffy - male dog - and new cat, but she was already fixed. Elderly client

Gracie Gray & T***s - residents of a mobile home park who will not be having any or anymore kittens!

Elsa - female cat who had a couple of litters and that is now stopped

Magic & Boss - their human mom is due with a tiny human in 14 days and Magic just came back into the picture and she happened to be in heat so this was a rush one!

This has been a big cat fix week so far! YTD is #250

Milo - owner is transitioning jobs and Mr. Milo went MIA for a bit so someone told her to get him fixed & microchipped and all and that she did!

Purrl, Chevelle "Chevy", Barracuda "Cuda", Dozer, Birdie - they were born to a stray mom who was hit by a car. Breeding cycle has ended!

Betty - litter born to another stray unfixed mom. They kept Betty and her siblings are at Indyhumane for adoption! Will be driving by this area tomorrow to figure out where mom is.

Buster & Buddy - Formerly unhoused folks who found 2 male strays so now they are fixed and all.

Stormy - outside stray cat who found some good folks to help her when she had kittens, but the kittens all died. They watched what she went through, but she now has a safe place and is healthy.

We also partnered with FIDO Indy to get some cats fixed for a low income senior apartment complex.

Lucky, Mae Mae, Angel and Mr. Maccom were also all fixed, vaccinated and microchipped!

Saffrona was our spay candidate today. She showed up and her person was determined to get her spayed so she can go inside!

There was no trap involved here - she used conditioning which is when you do something over and over such as feeding in a carrier so she equates that carrier with a good thing such as food and will go right on into it. *This might not work for the most feral cat, but in this case - it worked.

September is Hoosier Fix’s birthday and it turns 6! 🎂

We have lots of requests coming in and many of them are from senior citizens who have very limited income. Some of them have not really asked for the responsibility of a pet whether someone moved and left it with them or it showed up on their doorstep. We know that cat distribution system all too well.

If you would like to help us, help them please consider a donation of $6 to help us celebrate!

Attaching our current numbers as well!

100% of all donations go right to pay for surgeries! I cover all other costs for Hoosier Fix - website, carriers, gas, etc.

Had a big and expensive day at IndyHumane!

Katie (mom), Lumi, Matteo, & Sweet Pea - cats
Louie, Charlie Brown, Junior - all dogs
Walter & Batman - cats

Katie and kittens are staying with their family. They are now all fixed and the breeding cycle had been broken. They are with a former animal control officer who knows the importance of spay and neuter.

Walter & Batman were late night add-ons. I was given their owner's number by a neighbor. I called explained who I was and all of that. He was not happy to speak to me and hung up on me so I made a note and moved on with life.

I get a call from his girlfriend (she just came back into the picture due to "some time away") last night who is extremely upset about their cat having a massive ugly wound on its neck. Unfixed male outside - things happen like this pretty frequently. I guess he kept my phone number.

Gave up my pride for the sake of the injured cat and one of the kittens. Indyhumane did an amazing job getting him cleaned up and treated. Still have 2 females to get yet, but very skittish so next trip soon. I set my alarm early and had to them to the clinic and thank you to Cindy who got them home safely. I am proud of them as there are some major changes going on there (human wise). These cats are loved...

Louie, Junior & Charlie Brown's mom reached out the same night that her son and daughter's cats were fixed. This family is low income and now their entire pet family is fixed, microchipped and vaccinated.
