Menstrual Poverty on Buyiga Island ❤️
Menstrual poverty is one of the challenges affecting girls and women on Buyiga Island, Uganda. Many struggle to access affordable and hygienic menstrual products, affecting their dignity, confidence, and ability to attend school or participate fully in daily life.
At Saint Ann Foundation, we believe that every girl and woman deserves access to menstrual products and the knowledge to manage her period with dignity.
A heartfelt thank you to our long-time partner, Sabine Hanks and her family, for coming to the rescue! ❤️
Through their generous support, women and girls on Buyiga Island already have the opportunity to learn how to make reusable sanitary pads and access them for their menstrual needs. This initiative is not only addressing menstrual poverty but also equipping women and girls with practical skills that promote dignity, confidence, and sustainable menstrual health.
Your kindness is making a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls on Buyiga Island.
With love and gratitude,
Saint Ann Foundation

❤️🇺🇬 FROM VOLUNTEERS TO FAMILY — THANK YOU, CARA & TOBY! 🌍⚽
It has been truly amazing, beautiful, and deeply touching to host Cara David (Maama) and her wonderful son Toby here in Uganda with the Saint Ann Foundation.
Their journey with us has been so much more than volunteering. They opened their hearts to our children and communities, embraced our culture, shared their time and kindness, and created memories that will stay with us for years to come.
One of the most beautiful moments was the soccer tournament they arranged for the children of Buyiga Island. ⚽❤️ The excitement, laughter, teamwork, and joy on the children's faces reminded us of the incredible power of sport to bring children together, build confidence, and create opportunities.
But Cara and Toby didn't stop there.
They took the big and beautiful step of sponsoring Ryan as their child, helping him access better educational opportunities and giving him greater hope for his future. 📚❤️
Even more meaningful, they chose to travel to Ryan's roots, coming closer to his story, his community, and the place that is part of his journey. This is more than sponsorship — it is the beginning of a genuine family connection that crosses borders. 🌍❤️
And their Ugandan adventure also included an unforgettable safari to Murchison Falls National Park, where they experienced Uganda's incredible wildlife, landscapes, and the breathtaking beauty of Murchison Falls. 🐘🦒🦁🌿🇺🇬
Cara and Toby, you came as volunteers, but you leave as family. ❤️
Thank you for: ❤️ Giving your time to our children
⚽ Bringing joy through football
📚 Investing in Ryan's education
🌍 Travelling to his roots and embracing his story
🦁 Experiencing and celebrating the beauty of Uganda
🤝 Building a connection that goes far beyond volunteering
Your kindness shows us that education can change a child's future, sport can unite a community, and love knows no borders.
Ryan is not simply gaining support for his education — he is gaining people who believe in him, his dreams, and his future. ❤️
From all of us at Saint Ann Foundation, Webale nnyo, Maama Cara and Toby! 🙏🏾❤️
Uganda welcomed you as visitors. We hope you leave knowing that you are now part of our family. 🇺🇬❤️🌍

🌍✨ Day of the African Child 2026 ✨🌍
Today, we celebrate the resilience, dreams, and limitless potential of every African child.
At Saint Ann Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive regardless of where they are born. From the hard-to-reach island communities of Buyiga to vulnerable children across Uganda, we remain committed to ensuring access to quality education, clean water, healthcare, protection, and opportunities that empower children to build a brighter future.
As we commemorate the Day of the African Child, we honor the courage of children who continue to overcome challenges every day and remind the world that investing in children is investing in Africa’s future.
Together, let us create a world where every African child is safe, educated, empowered, and given the chance to achieve their dreams.
💚 Every child matters. 📚 Every dream counts. 🌍 Every child deserves a future.

✨ From darkness to opportunity. ✨
For the first time in the history of Buyiga Island, children can access digital learning powered by clean, renewable energy.
Through our Solar Project, Buyiga Seed School has become the first school on the entire island to have off-grid electricity, transforming education for hundreds of girls and boys. What was once impossible is now a reality—children are learning ICT skills, accessing digital resources, studying after dark, and preparing for a future filled with opportunities.
For many children, this is their first experience using a computer. For many girls, it is the beginning of a journey toward digital inclusion, leadership, and economic empowerment.
This project is doing more than providing electricity—it is lighting classrooms, expanding opportunities, bridging the digital divide, and helping children build the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
A heartfelt thank you to MIVA and Katalemwa Cheshire Home for making this transformation possible. Together, we are proving that no child should be left behind simply because of where they are born.
💡 One solar project. 💻 Hundreds of children empowered. 🌍 A brighter future for Buyiga Island.

Make a Difference in Buyiga – You Don’t Need Much!
In Buyiga, children find joy in the simplest things—playing football barefoot, laughing together, and embracing visitors with pure love. But behind these smiles lies a great need. Many lack proper clothing, shoes, and other basic necessities.
Yet, making an impact doesn’t require much. A small donation—clothes, shoes, school supplies, or even your time—can transform lives in unimaginable ways.
Let’s come together to bring hope and dignity to these children. Every small act of kindness counts!
📩 Join us in making a difference today.
