Today on , we are excited to share how we are turning our 988 awareness into action. 💚 An important part of building a strong crisis response system is making sure that the professionals who respond in our communities understand how 988 fits into the system.

With support from a State 988 Advocacy and Awareness Grant from NAMI, NAMI Indiana is developing a new 988 training module for Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs across Indiana. The module will build upon resources from NAMI’s 988 Toolkit and help officers better understand 988, Indiana’s crisis response system, and opportunities for collaboration between law enforcement and behavioral health crisis services.

Our Criminal Justice Technical Assistance Center will work with the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA), our statewide network of CIT Coordinators, and other 988 partners to support implementation of the module within CIT training.

The grant will also help put 988 resources directly into the hands of officers participating in CIT trainings over the next year — resources they can use themselves and share with the people and families they encounter in their communities. NAMI Indiana estimates that this effort has the potential to directly and indirectly increase 988 awareness among nearly 6,000 Hoosiers.

988 is more than just a number to call, it is an essential part of building a crisis response system where people experiencing a mental health crisis have someone to talk to, someone to respond, and a safe place for help.

Whatever you're facing, your reason for reaching out is reason enough. Call, text, or chat 988. ***dePrevention

Today, on the first day of ***dePreventionAndAwarenessMonth, following National Grief Awareness Day on August 30th, we take a moment to pause. We acknowledge all those who are grieving the loss of someone to death by su***de.

This month is about more than prevention. It's about holding space, for those grieving, for the guilt that so often comes with this kind of loss, and for the reality that death by su***de is still something too many people feel they can't talk about openly. This month is about changing that. Talking about it, without euphemism or shame, is part of how we support each other.

You don't have to carry this alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call or text.

Today, on National Women's Equality Day, we're honoring a woman who shaped what it means to lead with strength and heart, Dolly Parton.

Dolly showed that softness and power aren't opposites. She built an empire, gave endlessly, and stayed honest about her own hard seasons, including how deeply grief can knock us down when we stop taking care of ourselves. She often reminded us that a brighter day isn't something we wait for. It's something we work for.

That's what mental health care is too: showing up for ourselves and each other, and building a world where every woman has support when she needs it. 💖
