Loves & Lights
This month is about Suicide Prevention & Awareness but everyday should be about us being mindful of mental health. It's not always easy, glamorous nor popular to and sharing hard truths of your life. Having the courage to have and moments to discuss suicide or any other mental health crisis still carries such a stigma, and in our community it's 3x worse. Yet the purpose and the call to help others survive as well as thrive through the life storms that can claim and impact the lives of so many, greatly outweighs any feelings of shame or being embarrassed. It's my give-back to the Lord for saving me countless times and my forever tribute to those we have loss to suicide.
I am a suicide attempt survivor and suicide loss survivor. I'm blessed πͺ π π
Someone may be hurting and suffering in silence and shame. The enemy will convince you of a plethora of lies to steal, kill and destroy your life - FIGHT!
Know that suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems or issues. Know that you are loved, valued and the world would be less without you in it. That suicide is never Yah/God's plan for us and whatever your struggle is, there is help and resources for your healing.
It's OK not to be OK, it's just not OK to not do something about it.
"You can never see a better tomorrow if you take yourself away today" - T.
One of my favorite scripture is John 5:1-9
"The Healing at the Pool"
Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda[a] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lieβthe blind, the lame, the paralyzed. 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, βDo you want to get well?β 7 βSir,β the invalid replied, βI have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.β8 Then Jesus said to him, βGet up! Pick up your mat and walk.β9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
So to that person who is struggling with any mental health conditions or crisis of any kind including chronic health issues, P.T.S.D, grief, domestic abuse, sexual abuse and whatever your "something" is - because we ALL got something - I want to encourage you to "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk!" Be made whole by reaching out, allowing others to uplift you and go get the help you need to be better.
We must be bold and proactive in our healing, and although change can be hard and healing is not a straight line, healing is STILL possible.
You have the right to HEAL THYSELF!
As the storms may rage, even when you have to hold tight and close your eyes going through it, know that..."This too shall pass" π
so look forward to the rainbows in life on the other side of your storms and may the sunrays of better tomorrows shine so bright upon you that you feel the divine love that created you greater than the storms that may have impacted you.
So
Fight!
Because...
My story is not over ;
Your story is not over ;
Our story is not over ;
π Their stories are not over ;
Keep going!!! πͺ I believe in you, I love youπ

We must continue to and to have with our children and each other to help prevent losses such as this. Suicide is on the rise in all demographics. Anxiety and depression in the country is at an all time high π― Children taking their lives are getting younger and some elders are taking their lives before being healed enough to pass the torch of resilence and agape love. Suicide is indeed an epidemic and public health concern that results in extreme emotional devastation, as well as cost billions in health care and community resources.
WE MUST A.C.T !!!
Acknowledge -
Care/Compassion -
Talk/Tell)
If WE don't talk to our children, pay attention or take them seriously then how do we know what is affecting AND effecting our children?! How can we teach them that they are fighters and conquerors when we won't even address nor fight the battles that we/they face? For parents living a horrible life, your children see and know far more than you give then credit for. It's amazing how we want our children to have even more resilience than the us. We can be living a horrible life but yet expect them to be the ones to overlook, bounce back, shake it off and keep it pushing like they are the adults. TALK TO YOUR BABIES PLEASE
People think that children are too young to suffer such overwhelmingly painful emotions or life so often they overlook the signs and symptoms of depression and/suicidal ideation or behaviors. It is so important, imperative that loved ones understand that suicide doesn't discriminate and the true 'face' of suicide can be more familiar than we want to believe it is. Be it others or ourselves.
Be mindful
Be kind
Be aware
Be BRAVE to live your life & help others survive theirs.

I was honored to be a facilitator at my sister Mother Love's Garden again this summer! We talked about speaking over ourselves, affirmations and dreams. One of my biggest passion is speaking to others about coping skills and resilience.
Thank you Tysha Ahmad for having me! And for all you do for the community.
I love those babies π₯°

Loves & Lights
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and as we recognize this day, let us bear in mind that every day we should be mindful of not only our own mental and spiritual health, but for others around us as well. For those of us who are survivors either of suicide attempts and/or the loss of a loved one to suicide; this day can be a moment of mixed emotions and may even trigger someone still grieving or in the midst of their own storm. I want to encourage each of you, no matter where you are in your healing or grief process of the following:
1. Be kind to yourself and others. Utilize self care and allow others to care for you. If you are able, reach out to someone you know may be struggling to let them know that they are not alone, today or ever, in this fight. Do something nice for yourself and others, recognize that you are human and worthy of joy, love and peace despite life circumstances. Be kind but proactive in your healing because you are worthy, loved and valued.
2. Keep going! Breathe through the hard moments, cry if you must to release, keep your routines and if you can't, it's ok to forgive yourself for feeling down or still mourning a loss but keep going. Find joy and peace in the moments when you are not down and grieving, pray and meditate on scriptures and songs that uplift you and remind you that "This too shall pass" and that you can make it through the valleys to forge on to the mountaintops of your life again. Don't give up, keep going! Your testimony may be another's step to healing in their life and a milestone in yours. Keep going!
3. If you need help or in crisis...GET IT! There is nothing wrong with seeking professional mental health assistance when life or disruption of your thought processing gets to be too much to bear. Please know that you have a God and people who love you, that you are valued and have a purpose. There is no shame in getting help because there should be no shame in healing to be better. We all have something, been through something and may be going through something. Surround yourself with Lights that fuel you when you feel your light may be dim. Allow others to pour into you and labor with you during your hard moments and times so that you can be present for the gifts of life that are for you.
4. If you see or know of someone who is crisis...ACT! Acknowledge them "How are you today?" "I noticed you are not your usual self today, how can I help or do you want to talk?" Care and have that hard with compassion and Remind them that they are valued and loved, that suicide is a permanent solution to temporary life problems. Inspire, encourage, guide and support them. Tell! if they need help, tell someone and get them to a crisis unit or mental health professional asap. It is better for them to be mad at you today but be here for each tomorrow when they have made it through moments they didn't believe they would survive. Don't just place them in your "thoughts and prayers" but be proactive and ACT when you see someone struggling. You may be the only LIGHT they can currently see or feel. Use that moment and time to
5. Find a support group, church/house of worship and a mental health professional to add to your circle of treatment. It's ok to have Jesus and a therapist too! Trust that Yah/God has given you the help, the strength and comfort to carry you through the dark moments and times of your life. Know that the more you develop and strengthen your coping skills that you also build your resilience to over come life stressors. Remember that you are a conqueror!
For someone who is struggling...
You are not alone nor is there anything wrong with seeking help for healing.
You can't see the blessings and promise of tomorrow if you take yourself away today.
You are valued and loved.
You can and will get through this!
For loved ones of someone struggling...
Remember to A.C.T:
(Acknowledge) - "I see you" "I feel you" "I'm here" "Talk to me."
(Care and Communicate) - "I value you" "How can I help?" "You are not alone"
(Tell) someone - "I'll go with you" "Let's call someone professional to help" "I'd rather you be mad at me today for telling someone than have you gone because I didn't"
If you are someone you know is feeling suicidal and/or unsafe, please seek emergency medical attention!
Be Compassionate, Be Mindful, Be Brave
