In Chulaimbo, Kenya, at least 20% of the school-aged children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

We are a partnership of many faiths and cultures from two continents, united in our service to change lives by keeping orphaned and vulnerable children in western Kenya in school. The vision of the Umoja Project is to develop a compassionate and comprehensive network of care which responds to the needs of these children by:

- Supporting children and their families through broad-based services;
- Building the long-term capacity of families, communities, and local faith-based organizations to implement, coordinate, and sustain services for children; and
- Strengthening linkages among faith-based and community-based service providers to ensure local support is coordinated and effective. Our partnership model enables our two coalitions to build on respective strengths and resources while working together to build a strong support system for the children. Members of each coalition provide education and advocacy in their respective congregations, denominations, governmental structures and larger communities, as well as mobilize the resources necessary to support the Umoja Project.

🌾📚Term 3 Grain Distribution for Umoja’s Child-Headed Households 🧡

This past week, our Uradi Comprehensive School students received their grain support for Term 3 — a vital step in ensuring they have nourishment, stability, and the opportunity to continue focusing on their education despite the challenges they face at home.

These resilient young learners carry responsibilities far beyond their years, yet they continue to show courage, determination, and hope every single day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Umoja’s mission of empowering vulnerable and orphaned children through education and care. Together, we are changing lives one child at a time.

🌍 Don’t forget — September is Hunger Action Month!

There’s still time to take action and help make sure children in Kenya have the food they need to learn and thrive.

Through our campaign, we’re working to provide daily school lunches to 5,444 orphaned and vulnerable students across our partner schools in Western Kenya.

🍽️ A school lunch is more than a meal. For many students, it is the most reliable meal they receive each day — helping them stay focused in the classroom, attend school, and have the energy to learn.

Every $50 provides lunch for one student for an entire year. ❤️

This Hunger Action Month, help us fill a plate, fuel a child’s education, and create hope for a brighter future.
