Next Wednesday, October 14, is Thank Your Cleaner Day.

Some work quietly overnight. Others are part of our daily routine: the familiar face who greets us each morning, knows our names, and keeps everything running smoothly.

Either way, they're the reason our workplaces are clean, safe, and healthy. And many have become part of the team.

So next week, make it a point to say thank you. Leave a note on a desk or cart. Tell their supervisor what a difference they make. Or take a moment to tell them what they mean to your day.

From honoree to host.

Last year, our VP of Human Resources, Karina Villaseñor, received the ISSA VEO Visionario Award. This year, she returned to the VEO stage as the first honoree to serve as conference co-host, and she used that platform to help others be seen.

In her session, "De Honrada a Anfitriona: Liderazgo que Eleva a Otros" (From Honoree to Host: Leadership That Elevates Others), Karina shared how leaders can open four doors for their people: confidence, learning, visibility, and sponsorship. She also explained how 4M's Lead 360 program has produced 189 graduates in three years by building leaders from within.

Her challenge to every leader: write down one person and one door you'll open for them.

48 years ago today, it all started with just two clients.

On October 1, 1978, St. Louisan Mitch Murch Sr. launched Mitch Murch's Maintenance Management. One of its first crews arrived at the prestigious Pierre Laclede Center in Clayton, MO.

48 years later, PLC is still a valued client, a partnership that spans our entire history.

That kind of partnership doesn't happen by accident. It's built year after year on trust, consistency, and a 4M team entirely focused on service excellence.

In the coming weeks of this anniversary month, we'll share more of our story and how that early commitment continues to shape our growth, now nationwide.

Most facility managers call for a strip and wax once the floors already look bad. By then, the damage is done.

Here are signs your floors are overdue:
- They look dull even right after mopping
- The finish is yellowed, especially on light-colored tile
- Scuffs and heel marks won't come out
- Buffing no longer brings back the shine
- It's been more than a year since the last strip

Catching these early keeps floor care proactive, not reactive, and protects the floor underneath.

See one deer? Expect more.

This week, our safety team sent a wildlife awareness alert to every 4M fleet driver. The advice applies just as much to your drive to the office.

U.S. drivers filed about 1.7 million animal collision claims last year, most involving deer, according to State Farm. Fall is getting underway, and many of us are now, or will soon be, commuting in the dark.

A few reminders from our alert:
- At night, low beams light only about 250 feet ahead, according to OSHA. Slow down enough to stop within what you can see, and use high beams when it's safe.

- During the day, stay alert. Deer cross in daylight too, especially near fields and wooded roads.

- If you see one, slow down, stay in your lane and expect more.

- If a hit can't be avoided, brake firmly and don't swerve. Swerving often leads to a worse crash.

- On every trip, put the phone down and never drive drowsy.

Slow down. Stay alert. Stay in control.
