Purposeful Design

“To say I like what we do would be an understatement. I like how we do it, but more importantly, I like why we do.”

He came to us as a mechanic. Two days in, he knew he wanted to stay. KP worked his tail off in our transitional employee program and earned his spot on the team.

We also like what we do and how we do it! But we know the why is what keeps our craftsmen here.

Our passion is rebuilding lives from hopelessness to promise.

We welcome men coming from the streets through homeless missions who want a better life, offering them a job in our wood + metal manufacturing facility.

When you purchase furniture from Purposeful Design you aren’t just getting a quality product, you are helping us advance our mission to more people. Thank you.

Building quality furniture is WHAT we do. Helping craftsmen, like Sam, rebuild their lives is WHY we do it.

Sam shared some of his story last month at our Craftsmen Celebration Dinner, and listening to him talk about opening up a transitional home to help others get a second chance was incredibly inspiring.

Last month we had a Craftsmen Celebration Dinner! 🎉

Eight Purposeful Design craftsmen stood up to share their stories. They are men who came from real struggle, found stability, and are now in positions of responsibility on our production floor.

But they didn't stop there. They're mentoring, supporting our training program, opening transitional housing, and showing up for each other every single day.

This is what purpose looks like. We're proud of these men and grateful to be part of their story. 🙌

Different pasts. Different struggles. Same turning point.

At Purposeful Design, we're not in the business of just building furniture, we're in the business of rebuilding lives. We help men move from hopeless to promise, one skill and one second chance at a time.

Thank you to every customer who helps our mission come to life for our craftsmen.

Meet Michael. He found his way to Purposeful Design through our Advance job readiness course

What started as a class turned into a job as a welder in our metal shop. He'd never touched this kind of work before in his life. Now he's learning it piece by piece, and he's good at it.

Ask him what he's hoping for and he won't talk about the shop , he'll talk about being happy. "I haven't looked forward to the future in a really long time," he told us. "Just the fact that I'm looking forward to it now is a big turnaround."

That's what trying something new can do. Rebuilding lives. Building Furniture.

People Behind the Product: Meet Ricky Thornton 🎥

Ricky is our Program Assistant at Advance, which is exactly where his story with Purposeful Design started as a student.

"I started off going through the Advance program. And after the Advance Program, I loved the class so much, I went on and volunteered for the next class. After that, they offered me a position here in the company."

Now Ricky stays connected with graduates before, during, and after their classes. He walks alongside people the way someone once walked alongside him.

"They're actually helping rebuild my life, by giving me this employment and giving me a purpose to give back and to see that there is another option out there than what I've chosen before."

Purposeful Design isn't just building furniture, we're building people back up. Every day at 10:15 AM, the whole factory stops. We call it "10:15." The break room fills, the Bible comes out, and for a few minutes it's not about production, it's about fellowship, faith, and reminding each other why we're here.

"You get the experience of togetherness and the Word of God that is taught here in a safe environment."

That's the heart of Purposeful Design. 🙏
