Psi Upsilon Fraternity

Happy 16th anniversary to the Phi Nu Chapter at Christopher Newport University, founded October 9, 2010! The chapter celebrated a little early. Last weekend, Johnny Clawson '18 came back to CNU to play a homecoming concert for alumni, and the brothers turned out to support him. Johnny is now a songwriter in Nashville and has written songs for artists including Blake Shelton and Ella Langley.

On October 8th, 1983, Dr. James Morrissey, Pi '58 (Syracuse), led an expedition of 13 to climb the Kangshung Face (Eastern Facing Side) of Mt. Everest, which at the time had never been ascended.

From Dr. Morrissey's writing: "October 8, 1983, it was a day of patient dread and wild exultation, a day of incredible humor and expectant waiting. On this day those two elusive phantoms, dream and reality, met at the summit of Everest as three Americans walked side by side to the highest point on this Earth. The East Face, the last unascended face of Everest, had been climbed. "

Dr. Morrissey had a Psi Upsilon Flag with him for this expedition, and returned the flag to the fraternity, and it is now displayed at the International Office and brought to events such as the Psi Upsilon Convention and Archons Academy so others may share in his story.

Brothers, we've never tried this before, but let's see how it goes! Psi U Executive Council and Board of Directors leadership are holding open houses in support of the 2026 Days of Giving, to answer questions, and to discuss the new 24 - Month Strategic Plan for Psi Upsilon all around the country.

RSVP preferred, but drop ins during the posted times welcome.
(If you want to host a meetup for Days of Giving, email [email protected])

The Days of Giving start at 12:01AM Eastern, October 15th, and run through October 20th at 3:00AM Pacific. This fundraising event is the most important of the year for Psi Upsilon, and raises a lot of the funds necessary for our scholarships, Social Impact Fellowships, Convention, publications, speaker series, Signature Events, and much much more.

We'll be having open houses in the following cities: Arlington, VA • Atlanta, GA • Boston, MA • Charlotte, NC • Indianapolis, IN • Ft. Wayne, IN • Evanston, IL (north side of Chicago) • Seattle, WA

During the Days of Giving, which is a new donor challenge, every chapter competes to see who can muster the most donors with gifts of any amount. Our goal this year is 350 donors, and $125,000 raised, just over what we did last year.

Details for Days of Giving will be live at http://www.psiu.org/daysofgiving starting next week

The Phi Beta Chapter at the College of William & Mary is continuing its partnership with the Williamsburg Community Growers this year! On weekends, brothers have been rolling up their sleeves at the WCG Farm, helping to grow fresh produce for the local community.

It's a great example of Psi Upsilon's commitment to Service to Society, and we couldn't be prouder. Great work, Phi Beta brothers!

Congrats to the newest members of the Delta Chapter at New York University!

Happy 183rd Anniversary to the Psi Chapter at Hamilton College, founded September 25, 1843. In 1843 Hamilton College had a student body of about 100, a president, four professors and a tutor. Tuition was $25.

Pictured is a postcard which shows the first Psi Chapter House, built in 1885, where the chapter resided until 1922.

Congrats to the newest members of the Phi Nu Chapter at Christopher Newport University!

Twenty-five years ago today, the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks took thousands of lives and altered countless more. On this anniversary, we honor all those who lost loved ones that morning and acknowledge the weight that loss has carried through the days, months, and years since.

Psi Upsilon also remembers the following brothers, who lost their lives in the day's events:
Lee Adler, Iota '79 (Kenyon College)
Brendan Dolan, Upsilon '96 (University of Rochester)
Alex Steinman, Theta '91 (Union College)
Richard (Woody) Woodwell, Zeta '79 (Dartmouth College)

Happy Labor Day!
Today, we salute the hard work and dedication of all those who contribute to our communities and nation. Whether you're in the classroom or making strides in your career, your efforts don't go unnoticed. Enjoy the well deserved day off, brothers!

As fall semester begins across our chapters, we're returning to the words that define us.

"United in Friendship, Psi Upsilon members aspire to moral, intellectual and social excellence in themselves as they seek to inspire these values in society."

Swipe through for the five values that turn that mission into daily practice: Lifelong Friendship, Moral Leadership, Intellectual Engagement, Responsible Social Conduct, and Service to Society.

Welcome back, Brothers. Let's have a great Fall!
