As we wrap up Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, the work does not stop. GuideLink Center and our partner agencies have participated in community events, shared information, and connected with individuals who may not have known that help and support are available. Our mission remains simple: to provide a safe place and a trusted resource for those in need.
One recent outreach opportunity was at an event serving individuals in the construction industry. While there were moments when no one stopped by our table, we knew that simply being present mattered. For those who did stop and talk, it was an opportunity to learn more about the services available through GuideLink Center and the Linn County Mental Health Access Center in Cedar Rapids.
We know the need for mental health support is great across our communities. At the same time, conversations about mental health can still be difficult in many workplaces and industries. Whether it is construction, healthcare, education, manufacturing, or any other profession, there can be barriers to talking openly about stress, anxiety, depression, or crisis. That is why outreach matters. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is show up, start a conversation, and remind people that support is available.
Every conversation helps increase awareness, reduce stigma, and create pathways to care. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and look forward to continuing our outreach efforts. 💙
Coworkers, supervisors, friends and family members may notice when something has changed, but knowing how to respond can be difficult without the right preparation.
