We're hiring a Green Iowa AmeriCorps Food Recovery Program Development Specialist for an 11-month term! This role will focus on expanding our food recovery system through research, education, and community outreach.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, strong communicator, and team player who is able to work with people of diverse ages and background. They should also be enthusiastic about food waste reduction and community involvement.

This week our Love Food, Fight Waste program is celebrating local food and will be highlighting market vendors throughout this season. This week, we are highlighting Rot's Bounty Gourmet Fungi LLC, who offer fresh mushrooms.
Rot’s Bounty is a small family-owned mushroom farm located in Iowa City. They offer a variety of mushroom grow kits and fresh and dried gourmet mushrooms, including Oyster, Lion’s Mane, and Sh*take. Mushrooms are a complete plant-based protein that provide powerful antioxidants and essential vitamins such as vitamin D. Come check them out this weekend.

What to do with ten pallets of frozen goodness? This shipment of ice cream arrived at our donor partner’s door frozen, but too warm for the distributors standards. Thanks to their generous donation, we delivered more than nine thousand pounds of ice cream to our neighbors ahead of the holiday weekend.
