I’m proud to see Blue Sands’ Sun Valley office, which is led by George Berridge, support Windermere Golf’s Par-Tee this year! Over $18,500 was raised for the Blaine County Charitable Fund thanks to the generous sponsors and donors this year. Giving back and creating impact in the communities we serve is an important part of the ethos at Blue Sands. Nothing feels better than seeing good people come together for a great cause!

Never Talk About Money? For Women, That Can Spell Disaster.
How can you plan for retirement when your husband holds the purse strings and talking about money is taboo? It's a common problem for women, but help is at hand.

It’s no secret that gender roles have had a significant impact on women’s relationships with money. Before 1974, women needed a male co-signer to access bank accounts or open a line of credit. When it came to the workplace, in addition to the wage gap, women could legally be fired for being pregnant until the Pregnancy Discrimination Act took effect in 1978. Since then, women have made great strides toward financial literacy and independence, but we still have a long way to go.

What Is Landmaxxing? Why Wealthy Homeowners Are Buying the House Next Door.

The luxury real estate trend known as "landmaxxing" is all about buying more privacy, space and control. You don't have to be a billionaire to borrow from the strategy.

The ultimate luxury home feature might not be a chef's kitchen, infinity pool or extra bedrooms. For some wealthy homeowners, it's simply having fewer neighbors.

A luxury real estate trend dubbed "landmaxxing" involves buying the house next door, an adjoining vacant lot or additional acreage to expand the footprint around an existing home. In some cases, buyers are assembling several properties to create sprawling private compounds.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the LA Times OC Executive Leadership Awards. My husband Brandon was there as well which made it extra meaningful. To be able to connect with other difference makers and innovators was inspiring. I find fulfillment in connecting with like-minded individuals who share my dedication to raising the bar for leadership. Cheers to everyone who was recognized this year and special thanks to everyone who came out to support everyone who was nominated!

Why So Many Families Are Unprepared for the Great Wealth Transfer — and What You Can Do About it.

Passing down the wealth you've built over a lifetime, with wisdom and grace, is good. Passing on your values along with the money? Even better.

The amounts are staggering. Over the next 20 years or so, U.S. households are expected to pass an estimated $124 trillion in financial assets to heirs and other beneficiaries, according to Cerulli Associates, a financial services research firm. That includes some $85 trillion going to the Gen X and millennial offspring of boomer and Silent Generation parents, with many trillions more headed to surviving spouses and charity.
