Powering the Future, from electrical design to AI factories. That was the theme of ETAP Spark Stuttgart 2026, and what a day it was! โšก
On September 29, the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart brought together ETAP experts, customers, partners and industry professionals for a full day of practical engineering.

The focus: how digital technologies are transforming the design, engineering, operation and supervision of electrical systems, across the entire electrical lifecycle.
Expert presentations, live demo stations and hands-on insights showcased the full product range, including ETAP, SEE and Caneco.

Our partners brought the real-world proof:

โš™๏ธ Schneider Electric showed practical use cases with SEE Electrical 3D Panel, from automated control panel manufacturing to a power system study.
๐Ÿ—๏ธ auxalia presented practical approaches to holistic project planning with Caneco and BIM-based workflows.
๐Ÿ”Œ CADCABEL demonstrated how SEE Electrical 3D Panel combined with prefabricated wiring sets makes control panel processes more efficient.
๐Ÿ”— Weidmรผller showed how a digital twin between SEE and Weidmรผller can support control panel manufacturing.
๐Ÿ“ Kesio, together with KV-Consulting, presented a customer use case on routing power and instrumentation and control cables with Caneco BIM and automating workflows between Revit and Caneco BIM.

The day wrapped up with a guided tour through the Mercedes-Benz Museum, a fitting close to an event all about the future of engineering.

๐Ÿ™ A huge thank you to our speakers, partners, and everyone who joined us in Stuttgart for the conversations, the ideas and the connections. You made it a day to remember!

ETAP participated in IEEE IAS PCIC 2026 in Philadelphia this week, where our experts presented three technical papers that address problems every engineer running studies on large heavy industrial sites knows well: arc flash data collection and power system models that become expensive and unstable without disciplined methodology.

These technical PCIC presentations will be published through IEEE Xplore and/or IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications where everyone who could not attend PCIC can obtain them.

"1584.2 Guide and Checklists for IEEE 1584 Data Collection in Three-Phase AC Systems 1000V and Below"
๐Ÿ“ƒ The paper provided practical guidance for arc flash data collection based on IEEE 1584.2-2025, focusing on ways to minimize errors resulting from incomplete or inconsistent data.
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Authors: Daleep Mohla (DCM Elec. Consulting), Tony Parsons (Eaton). Albert Marroquin (ETAP), Walter Gonzalez (ETAP), D. Ray Crow (DRC Consulting, Inc.)

"Enhancing Electrical Safety for Large Site Operations: A Practical and Cost-Effective Arc-Flash Calculation Tool"
๐Ÿ“ƒ Drawing on Occidental Petroleum's operating experience, the paper presented a methodology for maintaining arc flash study accuracy across large industrial sites while controlling study costs, a direct answer to a persistent tradeoff in the field.
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Authors: Carlos Ramirez Franco (Occidental Petroleum), Marcos Perez (Occidental Petroleum), Walter Gonzalez (ETAP)

"Idiosyncrasies in Power System Analysis of Very Large Heavy Industry Networks"
๐Ÿ“ƒ The paper examined modeling challenges specific to very large heavy industry networks, including motor dynamic data requirements for transient studies, voltage and frequency stability in islanded operation, and convergence troubleshooting in large-scale models.
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Authors: Donald G. Dunn (Waldemar S. Nelson), Albert Marroquin (ETAP), Jose Macias (ETAP), Mohammadreza Hatami (ETAP)

Two days, one big idea: more data and more simulations aren't the answer. Confident, timely decisions are.
ETAP Spark 2026 took over Milan on September 23 and 24, powered by SELECTY, and it did not hold back.

We kicked things off with a look back at Apollo 13 and a bold message: a model-driven approach lets engineers validate what they measure, predict what they cannot, and understand the consequences before they act.

Tanuj Khandelwal, Chief Executive Officer at ETAP, took the stage with his keynote, โ€œPowering the AI Economy,โ€ sharing his perspective on the future of power systems in the AI era, followed by a special book-signing moment celebrating his book, โ€œPower System Dynamics.โ€ ๐Ÿ“–

And our customers brought the real-world proof, with case studies on cable ampacity derating, MV/LV protection coordination, short-circuit level reduction, BESS integration and LVRT compliance for a photovoltaic plant.

A huge thank you to all our speakers: Tanuj Khandelwal (ETAP), Ilker Gรผler (ETAP), Olivier Pouwels (ETAP), Giovanni Gambirasio (SELECTY), Paolo Marini (Maire Tecnimont), Francesco La Mantia Pignatone and Brando Lasi (Baker Hughes), Marco Antonio Bucarelli and Marco Graziani (Technip Energies), Chiara Isabella Lughignani and Michele Colombini (NHOA), Alexandre Teninge (SELECTY France), Francesco Pantaleo (ENI Progetti), Maria Federica Palmieri and Mercuzio Sassetto (Fincantieri), and Ramin A. and Marco Artusi (Saipem).

Special thanks to Daniela Rota for the outstanding organization, and to everyone who joined us in Milan. ๐Ÿ™ You made it unforgettable!

ETAP Spark London wrapped up this week after a fantastic afternoon of conversations around AI-driven power demand, digital twins, microgrid design and real-world power system applications.

Tanuj Khandelwal Chief Executive Officer of ETAP, opened the event by sharing ETAPโ€™s vision for the future and what the rapid growth of AI-driven electricity demand means for the way grids, infrastructure and power systems need to be designed and operated.

Later in the day, Tanuj joined Alex Schoch, Global Director of Flexibility & Electrification at Octopus Energy, and David Hall, President UK & Ireland at Schneider Electric, for a panel discussion on "Building an Intelligent, Flexible and Resilient Energy System from the Grid to Consumers", hosted by Shashwat Khare, Chief Marketing Officer at ETAP.

One of the strongest parts of the day was hearing directly from customers. Their case studies brought the discussion back to real projects, real challenges and how ETAP is being used to solve them. ๐Ÿ™ A big thanks to Alex Lowther, Alex Schoch, Aryn Thomas, Cameron Hardy, Falti Teotia, Phil Reid, Raghu Somanathan, Ranjit Mene for you invaluable contribution.

From digital twins and microgrid design to power system planning and operations, the level of engagement and the questions from the room made for a great afternoon.

๐Ÿ“ท A few photos from the day below.
And the ETAP Spark journey continues. Next stop: Milan & Phliledelphia.

Two days in Adelaide, Australia, one clear signal: data centre power growth and AI driven demand are reshaping how grid operators plan.
Sessions at our ETAP Spark User Conference covered a lot of ground: DC arc flash calculation for safety compliance. HIL and SIL controller testing for dynamic power sources and loads. Feeder hosting capacity work out of Central Queensland University. A walkthrough of what's new in ETAP 2026, including the AI features.

Shaikh Sahid Hossain, Chief Commercial Officer at ETAP closed day two on AI factory power management, from grid to chip, which tied back to the question that kept coming up in hallway conversations all week: can the grid actually keep pace.

Good exchange with engineering consultants, utilities, data centre operators, and academia in the room over the two days.

๐Ÿ“ท A few moments from the summit below.
