Where hope and opportunity meet. We believe all families deserve a future not pre-destined by circumstances.

Springboard to Opportunities is a nonprofit organization working alongside residents of federally subsidized housing as they pursue their goals in school, work, and life. Springboard is, first and foremost, a community partner committed to listening and responding to the needs and perspectives of families with limited financial resources. Through personalized navigation support, we connect residents to essential services, coaching support, opportunities to build social capital, and much more. Resident relationships drive our work, ensuring that all programs and initiatives align with community voices and continuously evolve to meet residents’ shifting needs. Our strategic priorities focus on deepening residents’ socioeconomic well-being, shaping policy, disrupting harmful narratives, and expanding possibilities for low-income communities nationwide.

In her latest contribution to Forbes, our CEO Aisha Nyandoro sat down with journalist Annie to discuss the “time tax” imposed by bureaucracy and what it actually costs Americans.

Lowrey’s book, “The Time Tax,” resonates deeply with the work we do here in Jackson, MS with mothers who are doing everything they can to provide for their families inside of systems that often make that work harder. ⏰💸

Dear Moms,

We know you’re out there doing everything you can for your family. We know you handle the big to dos and juggle the most all at once. We know you do it with grace. Make sure you’re doing something for yourself, too. Take 5 minutes to be outside or call a friend. Take a moment to recharge YOUR batteries.

With love,
Team STO

We are hosting voter registration events in each of our communities this week to help people check their status, register to vote if they have not, and understand who and what is on the ballot this November in Mississippi 💙

Our fellows are supporting in canvassing the communities and helping other residents connect policy issues to their everyday lived experiences. We all need to help each other recognize that who we vote for matters!

This work can’t be done alone so we are doing all of this in partnership with MS Black Women’s Roundtable and Civic Nation 🗳️

Is our country investing in the future Black women are working to build? The Highland Project dug deep into this question and published their findings in a new report that is out today.

is a delivery gap. What Black women need and what they are getting are far apart, and it’s about delivery, not partisanship.

The future Black women are building deserves investment, protection and possibility.

Last week we hosted alongside the SPLC and Jackson State University an intimate book talk with Jamilah where she shared more of her own story and experience, broke down some of the policy implications that have come from the false narrative we believe about single Black mothers, and encouraged everyone in the room to find joy and community together and own the fact that they are deserving of love, support, and respect.

It was a room filled with our Springboard fellows and other Black mothers and advocates from across the Jackson area who not only got to be in conversation with Jamilah, but also shared a meal, stories, and conversations with each other helping to build the powerful community of Black mothers in Jackson. 💚✨
