It came to J-Tech on a pallet. Rusty, neglected, and a long way from running.
MRV students Peter Harris, Alex Nanjarro, and Mike Slocumb, working with instructors Don Learn and Alex Brinkley, took an abandoned V-8 marine engine and gave it a second life.
They tore it down, rebuilt it, painted it, and brought it back to life.
And the best part? The work doesn’t end with the rebuild. The engine will now stay in the MRV shop as a hands-on training tool for future students.
One old engine. A lot of hands-on work. And plenty more lessons still to come.
Work hard. Train hard. Eat pizza.
As part of Student Appreciation Week had a Pizza Party for our J-Tech students!
The tools got a break, the pizza disappeared fast, and our students got a well-earned chance to grab some food and recharge.
We appreciate the hard work you put in every day.
Students in Mr. Davila’s Diesel class got hands-on with the JCB, working together to get the tracks back in place and the machine back together.
Great work by Andrew Hunter, Khareem Daly, Romani Ebrihim, and Kaden Hudson for taking on the job and seeing it through. Putting tracks back on a JCB skid steer isn’t a light-duty job. It takes teamwork, patience, and plenty of muscle.
This is what hands-on training looks like at J-Tech, learning by doing, working as a team, and getting your hands dirty.
One more look back at an incredible day.
The work, the long hours, the challenges, and the hands-on training all led to this moment.
Commencement is more than the end of a program. It’s the beginning of what comes next, new careers, new opportunities, and the chance to put those hard-earned skills to work.
To the J-Tech Class of 2026: Be proud of what you accomplished. You earned this.
Congratulations, graduates!
Welcome and welcome back.
Welcome to all of our new J-Tech students, and welcome back to everyone returning for another term!
The shops are open, the tools are ready, and it’s time to start building skills. Whether you’re turning wrenches, striking an arc, troubleshooting systems, or getting behind the wheel, every day of training is another step toward the career you came here for.
Now let’s get to work.

J-Tech 9/11 Remembrance Post
Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward in the face of tragedy.
From all of us at J-Tech Institute, our students, instructors, staff, and families, we honor their memory and the spirit of service, courage, and unity that brought our nation together.
Twenty-five years later, we remember.
Never Forget. 9.11.2001
