Happy National Black Dog Day!! 🖤🐾

There are some beautiful black dogs at your local shelter right now, just waiting to meet their person. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, today’s a pretty good day to go say hi. 🫶🏼

And if you’ve got a black dog at home, show them off in the comments!! 📸

Help us keep families together by donating at www.FreeBiscuits.org.

Because every dog deserves a treat and a chance.

Come check out Dr. Emily at this Saturdays vaccine clinic! No appointment needed, just walk in and wait for your turn. We look forward to seeing you!

Ryan stopped by Meals-on-Wheels for Pets Nassau today with a whole bag of treats for Deborah’s amazing team!! 🤩

Since 2009, they’ve been bringing pet food to the dogs and cats of homebound seniors across Nassau County. For a lot of those seniors, their pet is their closest companion, and this program helps keep them together. 🤎

Local partnerships like this one mean so much to us. None of us can do this work alone, and when we show up for each other, the whole dog community here gets stronger. 🐾

This is what your donations do. Every dollar you give to The Free Biscuits Foundation helps us support local pets, whether that’s covering a scary vet bill or bringing treats and food to partners.🫶🏼

If you’ve been thinking about giving, this is your sign!!

You don’t need a big budget to make a big difference for shelter dogs. 🐶

Here are 4 easy ways to show your local shelter some love:

1️⃣ Share adoptable dogs. One repost could be the one that finds them a home.
2️⃣ Foster a dog. Even a short stay gives a pup a quiet break from the kennel.
3️⃣ Volunteer your time. Walks and cuddles help dogs get adopted faster.
4️⃣ Donate what you can. Old towels and blankets count too!

Every dog deserves a safe, loving place to land.💛 That’s what The Free Biscuits Foundation is all about, whether it’s helping a family keep their pup at home or supporting the shelters that care for dogs still waiting on their furever family.

Save this post and share it with a friend who loves dogs as much as you do!! Our local favorites Nassau Humane Society and Nassau County Animal Services always have pups who’d love your help. 🐾

Did you know?? 👀

Florida is one of the top 10 states in the country for heartworm. ‼️

Heartworm spreads through mosquito bites, and here in Florida, mosquitoes don’t really have an off-season. 😒 The newest survey from the American Heartworm Society even found spots in the Panhandle and Southwest Florida where vet clinics are diagnosing more than 100 cases each.

The good news? It’s preventable!! A monthly preventative and a yearly heartworm test are what the experts recommend, all year long, not just in summer. Treating heartworm once a dog has it is a lot harder (and pricier) than preventing it.

We know vet costs add up fast, and no family should have to choose between their budget and their dog’s health. Loving a dog should be a joy, not a financial burden. 🤎

Save this as your reminder to check your dog’s prevention, and share it with a fellow Florida dog parent!!

The best time to get pet insurance is before you think you need it. 🏥⏰🐾

Small breeds like Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, and Pomchis like our pal, Benny, are known for a few common issues, like slipping kneecaps and dental problems. Here’s the catch: if a condition shows up before your coverage starts, most policies treat it as pre-existing and won’t cover it. 😬

So if you’ve got a young, healthy pup right now, that’s actually your perfect window. Every pet insurance policy is different, so read the fine print on what’s covered, especially dental and knees.

We see it all the time. A family loves their dog, then one surprise vet bill turns everything upside down. Loving a dog should be a joy, NOT a financial burden. 🤎
