In rescue you find 2 different kinds of people…. Those that take commitment to heart and those that walk away without a second thought to the responsibility they leave for others to handle…..
Thankfully here at BarkVille we have a good group of those that never walk away - they always choose the high road and just roll up their sleeves and figure it out- no matter how tough the situation is…
Dog rescue, fostering and adoption can all be challenging- it takes hard work, and dedication to see some of these dogs through….
A huge thank you to those that stand by their commitments, put in the work and persevere all for the betterment of a dog’s life! We appreciate you more than you know!!
We need more folks who have what it takes to face challenges, problem solve and have a do whatever it takes attitude!!
The dogs need you and truly their lives depend on good people that don’t take the easy road….the real rescue warriors!!!
If you are one of the “can do” attitude folks who have a “never surrender” mentality we desperately need you!!
Please fill out a volunteer, foster or adoption application today at www.barkvilledogrescue.org
Thank you!!!

Well….. as the saying goes…..
Winners NEVER Quit and Quitters NEVER Win!!
Our Meatball Biloxi worked hard at all of his classes, practiced and had a positive attitude….but he didn’t
pass the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Test today. He got overly happy and tried to jump on the tester!!!! Automatic Fail…..
The test isn’t easy and for good reason- Canine Good Citizens that go into schools or hospitals etc have to be reliably trained to behave- not jump and to be polite.
Biloxi’s come a long way, but it looks like we have a bit more work to do!! A new class starts soon, and we’ll be back at it! It’s important for Biloxi to pass so that he can be an ambassador for his breed and proudly represent Pitbulls everywhere!
We will keep at it until we get there!! It’s good for both us!!
In the meantime, Biloxi is still interviewing folks for adoption, so if you are interested get your application in at www.barkvilledogrescue.org
Thanks Everyone!! More Meatball Adventures to Come!!

GUESS WHO’S OUT OF BOARDING?! 🥹❤️
Our girl Keira has had a bit of a rough go lately.
After being returned by her adopters, she found herself back in the one place we really didn’t want her to be… boarding.
Going from having a home back into a boarding facility is a hard adjustment for any dog, and we knew Keira deserved better than spending her days waiting for someone to come get her.
Well… someone did. ❤️
An AMAZING foster family stepped up for our girl, and Keira is officially back in a HOME!
Before heading off to her foster family, she also got a little refresher course in training — brushing up on her skills, getting back into a routine, and reminding everyone that yes, she is in fact a very good girl. 😂
And now? She gets to trade the sounds of a boarding facility for the sounds of a home again. A couch. A family. A routine. People to hang out with at the end of the day.
Normal dog stuff.
The stuff we desperately want for every single Barkville dog.
We are SO grateful to the foster family who looked at Keira and said, “She can come stay with us.” You changed her entire world with that one decision.
Keira still has another chapter waiting for her — the one where she finds her forever family — but for right now, we’re just really freaking happy that our girl is HOME. ❤️
Welcome back to the good life, Keira. You’ve earned it. 🐾

Okay, we’ve been sitting on some pretty exciting news…
WE HAVE NEW DOGS! SIX OF THEM. ❤️
If you’ve been following Barkville for a while, you know how big that sentence is. Our intake has been closed for a long time, and we’ve had to say “we can’t” more times than we ever wanted to.
But this time, we got to say yes.
And just like that, six new little lives are part of Barkville.
We really wanted today’s Five Dollar Friday to simply be their big WELCOME post. A chance to introduce the new kids and celebrate the fact that our Barkville family is growing again.
Then Simon happened. 😂
That fluffy little face apparently decided a normal entrance wasn’t quite memorable enough, because we’ve already had an emergency with him — and a $2,500 bill to go along with it.
Welcome to rescue, right?
So here we are, ridiculously happy to have five new dogs under our wing while also looking at the stack of vetting ahead of us and thinking… okay, Barkville family, we could use you on this one.
If you have $5 to throw in for Five Dollar Friday, we would be incredibly grateful. Simon’s $2,500 emergency is only the beginning of the medical expenses for these six, and every bit raised gives us a little more room to keep doing the thing we’ve been waiting so long to do:
Say yes again.
For today though, we mostly want you to look at these faces and celebrate with us.
They’re here. They’re Barkville dogs now.
And we are SO happy to have them. ❤️
Happy Five Dollar Friday, and welcome to the family, new kids.
And a HUGE thank you to the fosters who opened their hearts and homes to make this possible! We couldn’t do this without you!!

$5 Friday! Please Donate to help us cover Simon’s ER Invoice.
One thing is for sure in rescue, you never know when an emergency is going to happen- things were going great with little Simon- he was happy, barking, settling into a routine at his foster home…..then his foster mom found him- almost lifeless on the ground.. she scooped him up and drove straight to the ER as if was after 9pm. Unfortunately, once at an ER the costs skyrocket quickly and you truly have no choice…. No other vet is open…..
The ER was not sure what was going on - Simon’s BP was up, gums were white- WBC up and his stomach was distended…. Bloodwork, X-rays, Ultrasound , fluids and overnight care came to $2690.32. We have since picked Simon up and brought him to our trusted partner vet where prices are reasonable and won’t put out our rescue in such a financial bind.
We still aren’t sure what is going on with Simon but things are starting to point to a stroke or aneurysm. Hopefully we will know more today and Simon will be feeling a bit better. We will keep you updated.
For now, we are asking for donations to cover $2190.32 since we have already been able to raise $500.00 for the little guy. Thank you to those who have donated - much appreciated.
Please Donate. Please Share. Please help us cover this large ER bill as we work hard to get through these extremely tough times in rescue.

🚨 Jack-Jack needs a foster or adopter ASAP.
He was adopted and returned just FOUR days later. And now that one of our volunteers has had him in her home, we’ve gotten to see firsthand who Jack-Jack really is.
He is SUCH a good dog. ❤️
He’s sweet, loving, happy to be part of the family and incredibly well behaved. He’s young and gets excited, so sometimes he needs a reminder not to jump but this boy is TRAINED. Watch the videos. He knows his commands backward and forward.
Unfortunately, his current volunteer has more dogs than she can reasonably continue juggling, so we need another place for Jack-Jack to land right away.
We don’t want four days to define this dog. He deserves the chance to settle in and show someone just how wonderful he is.
If you can foster or adopt Jack-Jack, please reach out to BarkVille Dog Rescue ASAP.
And if you can’t, please share him with someone you trust. Sometimes the right foster is just one share away. ❤️
Let’s get this boy a place to land.

Can we talk about Willie for a minute? Because we really don’t understand how this dog hasn’t been adopted yet.
One of our BarkVille marketing team members got to have Willie for a little weekend sleepover while his amazing foster was away, and Willie made it VERY easy to come back with a whole list of reasons someone needs to adopt this dog.
He is SUCH an easy houseguest. No accidents, not a big chewer, walks well on leash, and is so quiet in his crate you literally forget he’s there. He’s perfectly happy to settle down and mind his own business.
He also spent the weekend living with multiple dogs, including some pretty confident personalities, and did GREAT. Willie is naturally a more dominant/confident dog and seems to prefer dogs that are a little more submissive, but he did really well with the more dominant dogs too.
He’s currently learning how to ask another dog for space without going over threshold, and he is SO responsive to guidance. He’s easily corrected, eager to learn and wants to please. You could literally watch him figuring things out in real time. ❤️
Willie also does well in playgroup at Atlanta Dog Trainer. He’s not necessarily looking for a dog to wrestle with all day — he’s more of a “you do your thing, I’ll do mine” kind of guy 😂
He has an amazing foster who has put so much into him, and after getting to spend an entire weekend with him, we’re just even more confused about how nobody has scooped him up yet.
Willie is available through BarkVille Dog Rescue. If he sounds like your kind of dog, apply for our boy. And if not, SHARE HIM. His person has to be out there somewhere. ❤️

It’s $2 Tuesday and Flippy Needs our Help!!!
Flippy is a good dog- he is just a young dog that frankly, no one has taken the time to work with or teach about manners, nice leash walking or basic obedience skills.
He has lost several fosters - mainly due to his inability to get along with the resident felines, but also because he needs guidance, leadership and direction to understand what is expected of him.
So, that is exactly what we would like to do - send Flippy to training to learn all his good boy skills, set boundaries for him to live within and help Flippy become the adoptable boy we all know he has the potential to be!!!
We need your help today to raise $650 to cover his boarding and training so that he can learn to put his best paw forward and find a foster and a forever home!!!
Let’s help Flippy be all that he can be!!!
Donations can be made on our website at www.barkvilledogrescue.org
