BUT SOMETIMES THEY FORGET THE THINGS THAT MATTER MOST. ❤️

This is written by Mandy — not Cristina, not Sasa, not the staff, and not anyone else at 1850s. These are my words.

I also want to make something very clear from the beginning:

The decision that has caused so much conversation lately was MY decision. I made it solely, and I stand behind it.

Direct it toward me.

Loyalty matters.
Friendship matters.
Community matters.
But so do facts, fairness, accountability, and doing what is right — even when it isn’t the popular thing to do.

And lately, I’ve watched a woman who has done an incredible amount for this community get dragged into something that wasn’t her decision.

So let’s talk about Cristina for a minute.

This is a woman who has quietly given back to this community over and over again.

When someone walks through that door looking for a donation, Cristina is there with a helping hand.

Benefits. Fundraisers. Local organizations. Families. Community events.

If she can help, she does.

She is also involved with Young Eagles, a program that gives children the opportunity to experience flying in an airplane completely FREE.

She’s helping give kids an experience they may remember for the rest of their lives — and she doesn’t do these things because she expects a Facebook post thanking her.

She does them because she genuinely cares about people.

That’s the part that’s difficult for me to watch get forgotten.

One disagreement, one rumor, or one difficult business decision doesn’t erase years of someone showing up for their community.

As for the situation everyone seems to have an opinion about:

There are two sides to every story.

I am not going to publicly discuss someone’s private employment situation or list personal details on Facebook just to win an argument. I could say much more. I’m choosing not to.

Choosing not to tell someone’s private business isn’t an admission of wrongdoing.

Sometimes it’s simply choosing to have some class.

I made a business decision based on what I believed was fair to the business and fair to ALL of the employees expected to do their jobs every day.

And I stand behind that decision.

I understand loyalty. I actually admire it.

But loyalty to someone you care about doesn’t automatically make every version of a story the complete version.

And here’s something else I know:

The people who actually know 1850s will keep walking through that door.

The people who eat here, laugh here, bring their families here, support our events, know our employees, and have watched what Cristina and 1850s have done for this community aren’t suddenly strangers to who we are.

And quite frankly, some of the loudest criticism we’ve seen hasn’t been coming from the people who regularly walk through our doors in the first place.

That’s okay.

We’re going to keep showing up for the people who show up for us.

We’re going to keep supporting this community.

We’re going to keep donating.

We’re going to keep creating things for people to enjoy.

We’re going to keep laughing.

And we’re going to keep making 1850s a place where you can walk through the door and feel welcome.

You don’t have to agree with every decision I make.

But don’t tear down Cristina and Sasa for a decision that was mine.

Mandy.

I made the decision.
I take responsibility for the decision.
And I STAND BEHIND THE DECISION.

But I will also stand up for someone who has spent years giving back to a community she genuinely cares about.

One difficult situation does not erase years of showing up.

And sometimes the people who aren’t shouting their side all over Facebook aren’t staying quiet because they’re wrong. They’re staying quiet because they know the truth! ❤️

So stop in, say hi, annoy her a little, make her laugh, and get your Jess fix while supplies last.

Because come September, you might be walking into 1850s asking:

“WHERE THE HELL IS JESS?!”

And we’re just gonna shrug and say…

“Should’ve come on Sunday Funday.” 🤷‍♀️😂

Some things are different.
Some things are staying the same.
Some things might surprise you.

But every decision we’ve made has been with one goal in mind:

To make 1850s the best place in town to laugh, eat, catch up with old friends, and make a few new ones.

So don’t let the rumor mill tell you what’s happening…

We had so much fun watching everyone zoom in, debate with friends, and convince themselves they found “just one more!” Some of you have eagle eyes… others may need to schedule an eye exam. 😜

So… we’re making this a thing.

You’ll start seeing more fun little search challenges featuring pieces of 1850s. Sometimes it’ll be our patio, sometimes something inside the bar, and who knows what we’ll dream up next. 👀

Life throws all kinds of unexpected curveballs, but around here we’d rather laugh through them than let them get us down. Our goal has always been simple:

🍔 Enjoy great food.
😄 Laugh until your cheeks hurt.
🤝 Meet new friends or catch up with old ones.
🏡 Feel like you’re walking into a place where everybody’s glad to see you.

At the end of the day, that’s what 1850s is all about.
