Care Rooted in Community

We’re proud to announce that the KIN Support Program has received a Member Impact Fund grant through our partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, bringing the total combined contribution from First Bank and FHLB Des Moines to $8,750.

The KIN Support Program provides legal, financial, and therapeutic support to kinship caregivers and relatives raising children outside of the formal foster care system. Their culturally grounded approach helps families remain connected, stable, and supported across generations.

This funding will help continue providing essential resources and services that strengthen families and promote long-term wellbeing for both caregivers and children.

As a member institution, First Bank was honored to partner with FHLB Des Moines to help deliver this funding and support intergenerational wellness in our communities.

Tlingit & Haida is partnering with Goldbelt Heritage Foundation and the Juneau Tlingit & Haida Community Council to host a culture day camp for Juneau families.

Join us for fish preparation, regalia making, canoeing, dance and storytelling, and more!

The camp is open to children 6 years of age and older. Babies who are not yet walking are welcome to attend with their parent or guardian.

One adult must accompany every two children. For larger families, a sibling who is 16 years of age or older may count as an adult for the purpose of supervising additional children.

Please complete a separate registration form for each family member who wishes to attend the Juneau Family Culture Camp.

Families that register are committing to participate in all three days. Attendance is limited to 50 people who will be chosen through a lottery process.

Tlingit & Haida's Procurement Department has some excess furniture that needs a new home!

We're giving away home items like stoves, small refrigerators, TVs, end tables, couches and artwork.

Stop by the warehouse on July 16 from 9 AM - 3 PM. The giveaway is first come, first served and people need their own transportation to haul items.

Join us for Month of Play, a month of in-person and DIY fun taking place July 10 through August 2. Complete activities, get free admission to our facilities, join the in-person events, or do it all. All activities are free, and the more you play, the more chances you have to win prizes!

• Family Skate at Treadwell Arena, July 31 from 5 - 6:30 p.m.
• Disco Skate at Treadwell Arena, July 31 from 7 - 8:30 p.m.
• Movie in the Park: Zootopia 2 (PG) at Dimond Park Field House, August 1 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
• Building with Boxes at the Douglas Library, August 2 from 1 - 4 p.m.

At each event, you'll receive an entry ticket for the Month of Play drawing, featuring prizes like pool passes, private rentals at Treadwell Arena and Dimond Park Field House, free youth sports registration, and more. The prize drawing will be held on August 5, following all activities.

Sensory-friendly alternatives are available for Trucks N’ Stuff and Movie in the Park. At Trucks N’ Stuff, a quiet hour with no horns or sirens will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Dimond Park. The sensory-friendly showing of Zootopia 2 (PG) is at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Dimond Park Field House. During this show, some lights will remain on, and the volume will be lowered with the subtitles on.

We love Zach Gordon and Sheiyi Xaat Hit 🥰

Zach Gordon and Sheiyi Xaat Hit are launching a new resource for youth in Juneau, and everyone is invited to celebrate with us! Join us for the official Safe Place launch party on June 12th at the ZGYC from 2-4 pm for food, games, and the chance to learn more about Safe Place and see which organizations will be participating in the program. We will also be giving away fun prizes, merch, and gift cards donated from local businesses (like McDonald's!) to youth who attend.

Safe Place is a national outreach and prevention program that designates businesses and organizations as “Safe Places” where youth in crisis can go to seek help. Youth under 18 who are lost, on the run, or feeling unsafe for any reason can enter a Safe Place site and receive immediate access to counseling, transportation, shelter services, or other community resources within 30 minutes. We are super excited to get this important program started in our community and we hope to see you there!
