Roost & Roots Homestead

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

We have extra dozens right now since the Marans are officially in production!

If you're looking for pretty eggs you can keep on the counter and feel extra good about eating, let me know 🤙

$4/doz

One in ten thousand, but my 6 year old always has such luck that he just happens to look down and finds it 🍀

A FAIRY EGG AND AN EDIBLE WATERMELON?! IN THE SAME DAY?? PINCH ME!!

I'll be right back, I need to go get a lottery ticket.

Look at that smooth chocolate brown. I'm obsessed.

And that watermelon? Sweeter than candy.

Not to brag, but i moved the chickens by hand from the garage pen to the coop almost completely alone. It sounds much easier than it was.

Last time I was worried that the babies would get picked on. But these chocolate marans... they seem feral, fearless, and are much bigger than I anticipated? They're going to revamp that pecking order big time!

Tomorrow is going to be interesting!

Zinnia appreciation post 😍🌸🌼

Finally stuffed some of the garden into jars today! 🌶🥒

The internet is loving raccoons right now but unfortunately seeing them is not good news for us 😅

There are at least two... and I think this big boy may be the same one who broke into the garden and pummeled my raspberry canes last week!

Better than the mink that's been seen around our property... but a raccoon can and will do some damage too.
