I was humbled to be asked by my friend Tom to help design a commemorative cross reminiscent of the most iconic steel cross at ground zero for the families of the Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The cross was presented at their 25th Anniversary Dinner at Liberty House in Jersey City, with the Freedom Tower standing proudly across the Hudson as a powerful reminder of those innocent lives lost.

For a project of such profound significance, I immediately thought of my longtime friends Brian and Ralph Fleming of Carla Corporation in Rhode Island to help bring this meaningful tribute to life through their manufacturing expertise. Made in the USA was very important.

Twenty-five years later, the memories remain vivid, and the sacrifice of the brave men and women who gave their lives—and the families who continue to carry their legacy—will never be forgotten.

It is an honor to play even a small part in remembering them.

On September 10, 2001, I started a new company in Midtown Manhattan. I was excited about the future and completely unaware that, just 24 hours later, the world—and my life—would change forever.

September 11, 2001, is a day that can never be forgotten.

I remember the fear. I remember worrying about my family and loved ones. I remember wondering if I would ever make it home to New Jersey. And I remember looking toward the chaos and thinking about the firefighters, police officers, Port Authority Police officers, and rescue workers who were running into the danger while everyone else was desperately trying to escape it.

They knew the risks. They went anyway.

Twenty-five years later, the images may have faded for some, but the emotions have not. The courage, sacrifice, heartbreak, and incredible bravery of that day remain etched in our hearts.

Today, I am deeply honored to be at Liberty House in Jersey City with the Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey for a special 25th Anniversary dinner honoring the families of our fallen heroes.

It is impossible to put into words what these families have endured—and what they have given to our country. Their loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice, and their legacy lives on through the lives they touched and the freedom they protected.

I had the honor of working on a very special project for this evening, which I will share tomorrow.

As I stand here 25 years later, I am reminded of something that should never be forgotten:

We cannot bring them back.
We cannot erase the pain.
But we can remember and honor.
And we can make sure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

For the fallen.
For their families.
For the heroes who ran toward the fire.
For the innocent lives taken far too soon.

My family and I will never, ever forget. 🇺🇸
