In South Florida, summer’s Heart/Fire qualities can linger well into fall—heat, humidity, and a feeling of being “switched on” can be slow to disperse. At the same time, autumn’s Lung/Metal season invites us to strengthen our boundaries, settle the breath, and prepare for change.

In Chinese medicine, Lung/Metal is associated with the body’s outer protective layer, often called Wei Qi—an image of the “castle walls” that help us adapt to changing conditions. Chronic stress can leave those defenses feeling depleted, while humidity shifts, barometric changes, seasonal smoke, travel, and everyday exposure to new environments may add to the sense of strain.

Four Seasons Qigong offers a gentle way to support this transition through mindful movement, breathing, relaxation, and focused attention. The fall practices encourage freer breathing, fluid whole-body movement, release of accumulated tension, and a calmer, more resilient response to stress.
