🩷Health update and Breast Cancer Awareness Print 🩷

I have been wanting to post an update for a while on my health status and journey with Breast Cancer. If you saw my preview post this summer you know I was told in early April I had stage zero breast cancer and opted for an aggressive approach of a bilateral mastectomy in June. Those of you who are local and know me well know a lot of this has changed so for everyone who has been checking in and praying here is the update.

My pathology post surgery came back showing my cancer had spread to my lymph nodes and I ended up having to have 22 removed (8 cancerous) the pathology also showed that I had evidence of three different types of cancers in the breast an lymph nodes and due to that and the presence of the cancer in the lymph nodes my staging was changed to stage 3. This was upsetting and scary news to handle as I had gone into the surgery thinking it was the end of my journey and now it seemed to be the beginning. It was decided by the tumor board at Mayo assigned to my case that I needed to treat the most aggressive cancer first with chemotherapy known as the Red Devil for 8 weeks and then continue a second chemotherapy for 16 weeks following that one. At the end of those, I may have to have a second surgery or radiation and will continue hormone therapy for a full year.

This has all been very overwhelming and hard on our family but I am grateful for so much support that I have received from family and friends. I am currently in the in between week (I have finished the red devil chemo, and start the next 16 weeks this coming Tuesday). My faith keeps me grounded and focused on a higher healing power. My Husband an kids keep me positive and motivated to power through taking it one day at a time! And my artwork keeps me happy, productive and distracted in the darkest of days.

I have created a “print with a purpose” which I have listed on my Etsy site and posted here, which I drew as an illustrated journal to remind myself of all the things I will do again when treatment is over and recovery begins. If you look closely in the print you will see references to places, people, activities and events that remind me to keep fighting! There are even a few hidden images that represent the most important people to me. I created it originally in blue as I was in a blue era early in this journey and just couldn’t get on board with all pink, but now I have also created a pink version to embrace the journey and brighten the way for the next chapter.

I appreciate more than you can know everyone who has sent DoorDash, Amazon wish list, food, cards, flowers, presents, and all those who have prayer, checked in, called, stopped by and the countless favors for the rides for the kids! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

I appreciate also the orders from clients that allow me to keep doing what I love even in this difficult personal time!
