Located directly on the headwaters of the Loxahatchee River across from Riverbend Park , Headwaters Jupiter is a private eco-retreat nestled on nearly 3 acres of natural Florida that sleeps up to 8 people made from re-purposed shipping containers. The main lodge is comprised of three up-cycled shipping containers, and is surrounded by native Florida plantlife, edible gardens, and other thoughtfully designed landscape elements. The retreat sits with over 50 feet of frontage on the headwaters of the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River. There are multiple options for a stay at Headwaters ranging from renting a single room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities to renting the entire retreat and making it your true home away from home.

It is Thanksgiving Holiday Week. A time to be thankful for ancient scrublands. Visitors to the county's protected scrublands, like Jupiter Ridge Natural Area pictured here, walk atop ancient sand dunes that once brushed the Atlantic Ocean thousands of years ago. It only takes a few steps in the sugar sand to convince hikers they are traversing a long-gone beach. Scrublands are home to prehistoric reptiles (gopher tortoises) and plants that feature medieval-looking weaponry (pricklypear cactus). Now is the time to explore these special places. Other sites to check out include Juno Dunes, Seacrest Scrub, Hypoluxo Scrub, High Ridge Scrub and Yamato Scrub natural areas. Learn more about our scrublands at pbcnaturalareas.com.
