Check out this interesting story about Edward Israel, arctic explorer and Kalamazoo native. Who was Israel? Astronomer, explorer and crew member of the ill-fated expedition to establish a research station on Ellesmere Island in 1881. Regional History Curator Lynn Houghton provides background on Israel's family and life in Kalamazoo before his arctic pursuits began.
Why's That: What happened to Kalamazoo-born arctic researcher Edward Israel? A former Kalamazoo resident wondered why more people don't know about Israel, a prized astronomy student who became an arctic expeditioner.

Shout-out to Dr. Angela Moe for publishing her book, "A Pack of Therapy Dogs: Helping People One Wag at a Time!"
Dr. Moe and our furry friends from the WMU Therapy Dog Clinic visit Waldo Library regularly, giving Western students the chance to destress and relax with a therapy dog.
