We are now opening a sealed bid for two vehicles that have come to the Surplus Store:
- A 2008 Dodge Caravan minivan with 45229 miles (VIN 2D8HN44H28R761515)
- a 2009 Ford SRW pickup with 48054 miles (VIN 1FTWF30599EA39501)

Photos of the vehicles are included at the end of this post. Any interested bidders should carefully review the conditions and instructions of the bid listed below. The bid submission window ends at 4pm EST on July 22nd.

1. Successful bidder is responsible for removal of vehicle/equipment from site. Western Michigan University will not be held responsible for any accident, injuries or malfunction of any equipment purchased.

2. The items offered for sale and the descriptions have been compiled from available data, but there is no guarantee or warranty on the part of Western Michigan University relative thereto as to the number or quantity, kind, character, description, condition, suitability for use for which it may be desired or in any other respect whatsoever. All material is sold “as is” and “where is.”

3. All bidders are invited and urged to inspect items to be sold prior to submitting a bid.
Under no circumstances will a refund or adjustment be made due to any item not meeting the standard expected, nor will failure to inspect be considered grounds for a claim.

4. Items will be available for viewing at WMU Surplus Sales Store, located at 635 W. Ransom St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The viewing schedule is below:

• Wednesday, July 15th, 2026 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Thursday, July 16th, 2026 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

5. For questions regarding the sale or viewing of vehicle call us at (269) 888 - 2526 anytime from 9am - 4pm Mon - Thurs.

6. Bid deadline is 4pm EST on Wednesday, July 22nd. Bids will not be accepted after this time.

7. Bids should be handed in during the viewing times listed in item 4 or emailed to [email protected].

8. To submit a bid via email you will first need to request a bid/acknowledgement form. Email us with 'Bid form request' in the subject line and we will send one to you. Once you have filled out and signed the form you should send a new email with it attached that has “WMU Vehicle / Equipment Bid” in the email subject line.

9. The University is not required to accept best bid or any particular bid. The acceptance of bids is at the discretion of the University.

10. Prospective bidders are required to submit an exact amount for each item bid upon (i.e. $7,290.45) and must meet or exceed the minimum bid listed for each vehicle on the bid/acknowledgment form.

11. Payment must be in the form of Cash, Credit Card (MasterCard, VISA or Discover), Cashier’s Check or Money Order made payable to WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY for all items purchased. Items must be paid in total before pick up. Personal checks will not be accepted. Upon receipt of proper payment, buyer will be given a receipt/bill of sale to use as authority to remove items from the premises. All sales are Final – No Exceptions!

12. If manuals or documentation are available for any of these items, such manuals or documentation will be given to successful buyer at the time of payment.

13. The buyer is to assume all liability for the material after award is made. The University will exercise reasonable security of the material up to the time limit for removal, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage otherwise.

14. All material purchased must be removed by 3 p.m. EST July 30th, 2026. It will be the buyer’s responsibility to pick up purchased items by this deadline. Item(s) not removed by above date will be disposed of at the discretion of the University. Contact us at (269) 888 - 2526 anytime from 9am - 4pm Mon - Thurs to schedule the pickup date and time.
