🐻 Bear alert in the Flathead Valley!
Our cleaning crew got a surprise guest today, a black bear casually strolling across the deck at one of our properties around 2:25pm. Living in Montana means sharing space with some pretty incredible wildlife, and moments like these are a great reminder to stay bear aware, especially as we head into fall.
A few tips for guests and locals alike:
🐾 Keep doors and windows locked when not in use
🐾 Never leave food, trash, or coolers outside
🐾 If you spot a bear, stay calm, stay inside, and give it space
🐾 Bears are usually just passing through, let them do their thing

Let’s be real — the #1 thing guests ask us in summer is “do you have bear spray?”
And honestly, we wish we could say yes. But our insurance says absolutely not, so we can’t stock it in any of our properties. What we CAN do is tell you exactly where to grab it. 👇
✈️ FLYING IN? Glacier Outfitters is right there in baggage claim at the airport. Grab it before you even get to your rental car, drop it off before you fly home. (You can’t fly with it either direction — TSA says no.)
🏨 KALISPELL: Bear Spray Shack has a 24/7 vending machine behind Hyatt Studios on Jefferson Blvd. Yes, a vending machine. Rentals start around $10.
🌲 COLUMBIA FALLS: Bear Spray Shack at Wonderstone at Glacier, 7355 Hwy 2 E — right on your way to the park.
⛰️ WHITEFISH: Whitefish Outfitters, 541 Spokane Ave. About $12.
💛 BONUS: The Sharing Shack in Columbia Falls (3130 MT Hwy 206) lets you borrow bear spray for FREE. Take what you need, bring it back when you’re done. Very Montana.
Heads up — the Bear Spray Shack in Whitefish is closed through 2026, so don’t drive there.

Meet Oakmont 🏌️♂️
Golf course townhome in Columbia Falls — 3 bed, 3 bath, and a private hot tub tucked right off the patio.
Honestly, this is the layout that makes a group trip work. Three bathrooms means nobody's waiting their turn after a day in Glacier. Big table outside for the group dinner. Hot tub for after.
September in the Flathead is criminally underrated — no crowds, cooler hikes, the light gets golden. And Oakmont's calendar is open.

Happy August! 🌲
Honestly? This might be our favorite month of the year around here. Long evenings, full calendars, and lake days that make you forget it's a Tuesday.
