May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Making sure we have adequate mental health services in the Flathead is a priority to me and I believe that we can. We have people that we can call for help with 211 and 988, we have professionals who can go and help those in crisis but what we need is a PLACE for neighbors to go in crisis. And what mental health crisis requires is a save place for people to go for 72 hours to de-escalate and to transition into higher levels of care locally. We have the buildings for this - what we don’t have is the staff. In the Montana Senate, I will work to make sure we adequately fund the having staff trained and retained so that we have safe places for neighbors in crisis to go in Kalispell. Not 4 hours away, not in another State… but here locally.
