Fierce Financial Planning Services Inc. and Still I Rise are excited to present its 9th Annual Back 2 School Supply Giveaway on Saturday, August 8th from 2pm to 5pm at the Train Depot – Hill Side Stage (Kankakee). We will be giving away backpacks filled with supplies, school uniforms, FREE food and beverages. There will be a cash giveaway, bike giveaway, live DJ, bounce house, entertainment, food trucks, face painting, hair braiding, fun activities, games, tug-of-war, and much more for the youth to partake in! There will be FREE hair braiding (be sure to sign up).

Still I Rise & One Accord: would like to thank everyone who came out and made our Summer Vibes & Handmade Finds Pop-Up Shop such a wonderful event!

It was an exciting afternoon filled with shopping, creativity, community, and summer fun. We were proud to showcase talented local vendors, support small businesses, and bring our community together for an afternoon of raffles, prizes, shopping, and fellowship.

A special thank you to the Majestic Weddings & Events for working with us and providing a wonderful space for this event! We also want to express our sincere appreciation to the Kankakee County NAACP Youth Council for all of their help and support. And, of course, we couldn't have done it without our amazing vendors, customers, media partners, supporters, volunteers, Kraft Baskets & Kreations, and everyone who showed up and helped make the day special.

This is more than a shopping event; it’s a fundraiser with a purpose! Proceeds from vendor booth fees directly supports Still I Rise, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening our community through youth programs, food and nutrition initiatives, and essential and household item giveaways for families in need.

GentleGiant Community Outreach and Still I Rise came together on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Pioneer Park in Kankakee for HEAL THE HOOD, a community violence prevention and neighborhood empowerment initiative focused on promoting peace, unity, and positive change.

The FREE community event brought residents, families, community leaders, city officials, and local law enforcement together for an afternoon of connection and empowerment. The event featured inspiring speakers, including Community Activist Travis Miller, Anna Williams, Kent Wade, along with a prayer led by Alderman Reginald Jones.

Attendees enjoyed FREE food from Que-It-Up, lemonade, family-friendly games, a bounce house, a community car show, music by Broke Dusty, resource vendors, and raffles for FREE children's haircuts and hairstyles. The event also provided an opportunity for residents to connect with community organizations, local officials, and law enforcement officers.

HEAL THE HOOD was more than an event, it was a powerful reminder that when a community comes together, we can build safer neighborhoods, strengthen our communities, and inspire meaningful change.

Tocarra Eldridge-Robinson, Executive Director of Still I Rise and Professional Recording Artist, was honored as a nominee at the prestigious Le Kool Champagne & Kool Kids Foundation First Woman Awards Brunch in New Jersey. Having her philanthropic and entrepreneurial work celebrated alongside so many accomplished and inspiring women is a powerful testament to the impact that service, faith, perseverance, and purpose can have.

Tocarra was also honored to spend time with legendary icons and influential leaders, including Robert “Kool” Bell of Kool & the Gang, his son Prince Hakim, trailblazing hip-hop pioneer Roxanne Shanté, R&B singer Miss Jones, and many other remarkable individuals whose stories and accomplishments continue to inspire generations.

A heartfelt thank you to New Jersey Congressman Robert Menendez for recognizing Tocarra’s outstanding contributions and impact, and to her incredible celebrity fashion stylist, AvoryLamarr H., for helping her shine with excellence, confidence, and elegance on this unforgettable occasion.
