The Seattle Thunderbirds are hosting a coat and shoe drive at Friday night's game to support Kent School District Elementary Schools.

Items being collected include:
Children's Shoes sizes 12C - 5Y
Children's Coats sizes 6-14 / Small - XL

Wednesday, September 30th was a busy day!

We had our first 7 Habits Assembly of the year, and honored students showing the habit "Be Proactive" in their classroom and around the school.

September 30th is also Orange Shirt Day, a day of remembrance of indigenous students who were forced to attend residential boarding schools. Students and staff wore orange shirts and participated in classroom activities in remembrance.

Every Child Matters!

This Friday, October 2 there is no school for a teacher workshop day! We'll be back to learning on Monday, October 5.

This Levy is a locally approved funding measure that provides revenue to support programs, services, and operations in Kent School District. Levy funding supplements state and federal funding and contributes to student educational experiences. All levy funds remain within Kent School District and support programs and services aligned with the district's mission of preparing students for their futures.

Student Goal Setting Conferences are coming up soon!

Preference forms are being sent home this Thursday, September 24 in Hawk Express folders.

Please take a moment to complete your preference for date/times for your student conference and return it to their teacher by Wednesday, September 30.

Please note, we will do our best to accommodate all family preferences, but we cannot guarantee specific conference dates/times.

Join us for 1st - 5th grade curriculum night!
Tuesday, September 29 from 5-6:30pm at Horizon.

Curriculum Night is an important opportunity to connect with teachers and learn the curricula resources, routines, and instructional practices that are used in the classroom to support and accelerate your student’s learning.

What to Expect

5:00 - 5:30pm:
Principal’s Message in the MPR: Hear what’s new at Horizon, see the data that drives our goals, and learn how we plan on reaching those targets together.

5:30 - 5:55pm:
First Classroom Rotation: Visit your student’s class to meet the teacher and learn more about what we’ll be teaching.

6:00 - 6:30 pm:
Second Classroom Rotation: If you have more than one student at Horizon, this is your opportunity to visit your other student’s class.

Childcare Provided
The focus of curriculum night is to share with parents. We understand that bringing your student may be necessary. In this case, we are offering childcare for students over the age of 5 in the gym during the classroom rotations.

No RSVP Needed, Just Show Up!
We look forward to welcoming you into the classrooms and helping you discover the possibilities that await your student this year.

With school back in session, our Covington Human Services Commission is hosting a Back to School Resource Event at the Covington Library on Friday, Sept. 11.

Drop in anytime from 3-6 p.m. to connect with helpful resources for families, and stick around for an inclusive story time for kids at 4 p.m.

Arrival starts at 8:35 each morning.
School starts at 9:00am
Make sure you have a routine in place for getting to school on time every day.

Reminder: any student arriving after 9:00 AM must be escorted into the building by a parent/guardian and signed in at the office. This ensures students are supervised at all times and helps our attendance clerks maintain accurate records. There is no outside supervision after 9:00 AM, so please accompany your child if they are late.
