The Ketchikan Community Foundation serves as a resource and leader to those who wish to improve the community. We monitor all areas of community need.
Our mission is to grow an endowment and strengthen the charitable nonprofits serving greater Ketchikan Ketchikan Community Foundation was founded in 2013 and is an affiliate member of The Alaska Community Foundation. We serve as the philanthropic center in this region. We are here to help our donors make a positive impact in the community. What we do at the Ketchikan Community Foundation:
1. Connect donors with causes they care about – We make giving easy and effective, accepting a wide variety of gifts and providing donors a number of charitable options. You can contribute cash, stocks, property, and bequests. You may establish a fund in your name or in the name of a loved one. In most cases, your gift qualifies for maximum tax advantage under federal law. We accept donations, which are endowed and never spent. Only the earnings from the fund are given out.
2. Focus on community planning between individuals, organizations and governments – Our Advisory Board has an in-depth understanding of the issues, opportunities, and resources that shape our community. We can help you learn more about local organizations and programs that make a difference in areas you care about most.
3. Community Leadership – We support local nonprofits through grants and educational training. It is our belief to invest in the long term and bring people and organizations together. We are gathering different perspectives in order to address local issues and opportunities. Building the community is our passion. Contact us for more information!

And congratulations to Krbd FM Radio Rainbird Community and Rendezvous Senior Day Service, Inc for winning our community-chosen microgrants! Hope to see you all next year!

The Nourished Communities Grant cycle is now open! This opportunity supports local food security and sustainability projects that benefit the Ketchikan community—especially projects designed to create lasting impact.
Here’s how it works:
• Applications are open August 18–September 17, 2026.
• Ketchikan Community Foundation may award up to $5,000 to an eligible project. Awards may be less than the amount requested.
• Through The Alaska Community Foundation’s Nourished Communities program, eligible grants may receive an additional 2:1 match—up to $10,000 in matching funds.
• Grant recipients will be announced October 3 at the Vintage Cocktail Party. Attendance is not required to receive an award.

Join the Ketchikan Community Foundation in celebrating National Nonprofit Day on Monday, August 17, from 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. in the Ketchikan Public Library’s big room! Local nonprofits and community members are warmly invited to connect, enjoy refreshments, and hear Dave Kiffer share some of the history of Ketchikan’s nonprofit community. Attendees will also vote to award two $500 micro-grants to participating nonprofits. Nonprofits are encouraged to bring flyers, handouts, and updates about the work they’re excited to share!

What began as a community cleanup has become three new homes for local families. We're honored to have been part of the Woodland Avenue story and congratulate Ketchikan Indian Community on bringing this important project to completion.
