GRANT AWARDED—Cambrie Borchers, Southdale fourth-grade teacher, received grant support for her project titled INDI-vidual Thinkers: Building STEAM Skills Through Robotics.

She wrote,

“This grant enhanced student learning by providing hands-on, engaging opportunities to explore foundational coding and robotics concepts through the Sphero INDI robots. The best part of this project was the high level of student engagement and excitement during hands-on robotics activities. Students were eager to collaborate, experiment, and problem-solve while learning coding concepts in a meaningful and accessible way. The joy on their faces when they experienced success after trial and error was priceless.”

GRANT AWARDED-Annamarie Velasco, Fairmont Art Teacher, received a grant titled Art Garden Space.

She wrote,
“The idea of building a dream (outdoor classroom) space intended to enrich student learning has been especially relevant this year as our district prepares to make many building changes. The best part about our Art Garden Space has been including students in the process of designing, building, and executing this dream space. Student voices were the driving force of our brainstorms and blueprints - which has certainly been the best part.”

GRANT AWARDED-Megan Ray, SD Title 1 teacher, received a KEF grant titled Foundations First: Multisensory Tools for Beginning Readers.

“The materials purchased with this grant have given struggling and emergent readers hands-on, kinesthetic ways to practice phonic skills. Seeing the student engagement and excitement using the materials has been
great! Because of the multi-sensory, engaging activities, students are getting a variety of hands-on experiences to solidify and/or enhance phonics skills.”
