Overall, 55% (of homeowners) see no signs the insurance market is improving, and 26% contend it is getting worse.

The annual Mark Samuelian Awards in Residential Resilience is accepting applications through Friday, October 9, 2026. These awards honor the life and contributions of Mark Samuelian (1963–2022), Miami Beach Commissioner (2017–2022), who championed sustainability and resilience programs that benefit homes and neighborhoods.

This is the 4th year that the Resilience Action Fund, together with sponsors and committee members, are holding these awards to recognize individuals and organizations in Florida that demonstrate practical success in implementing above-code hazard-resilient measures and strategies in completed residential properties.

Awards criteria:
• Enhances resilience of residential properties from wind, water, and fire hazards
• Ease of duplication in other properties
• Applicable to a wide range of income levels
• Supports environmental benefits (energy, carbon, air quality, urban heat, etc.)
• Promotes community benefits (preservation, recreation, etc.)
