We at Ben Teague Designs see it as a refinement of one's personal taste, lifestyle, and personality to create spaces that reflect an intersection of these.

The kind of house you want to come home to.

From the entryway through to the bedroom, a quiet, neutral palette creates the backdrop, while unexpected pops of color keep things from feeling too predictable.

Nothing shouts. Nothing feels overly styled. It’s layered, comfortable and just polished enough to make everyday living feel a little more special.

Because the goal isn’t simply a beautiful room.

It’s walking through the front door and thinking, I could live here.

Some bathrooms need a little help.

This one needed a complete personality change.

Out with the dated finishes and tired details. In with clean lines, modern materials, and a bathroom that finally looks as good as the rest of the house.

Proof that good design can make you forget what was there before.

The best rooms don’t always have four walls.

When designing a home, the exterior deserves the same attention to proportion, materials, color and flow as the interior. This pool wasn’t added to the house. It was designed as part of it.

Because when the inside and outside speak the same design language, the whole house just makes more sense.

Open plan kitchens have trust issues.

Everything is on display. The cabinetry. The lighting. The appliances. Your questionable decision to buy that oversized fruit bowl.

So yes, every detail matters.

Good design makes the whole room look effortless. Great design makes you wonder how it ever worked any other way.

Open kitchen. Open living room. Open invitation to stay for one more drink.

When the spaces flow together, so does life.

Cooking, talking, entertaining, pretending you’re not listening to the conversation happening across the room.

Good design doesn’t just open up a floor plan.
It opens up the fun.

Dining rooms have a reputation for being a little too serious.

Wallpaper can fix that.

A pattern on the walls adds interest, depth, and just enough personality to make the room feel considered rather than predictable. Pair it with the right lighting, a great table, and chairs that actually invite people to sit down, and suddenly dinner feels like an occasion.

Because the dining room should have a little something to say.

And preferably, not just “please pass the potatoes.”

I'm so proud to be a part of Mangoes' new look. Be sure to stop by next week to see the changes we have in store.

Mangoes will be closed starting tomorrow and through September 14 as we make updates including a new dining room, a makeover to our outdoor bar and replacing all of our tables and chairs. Make sure to stop in and check out the new-look Mangoes!

The best part of this kitchen isn’t the kitchen.

It’s what happens beyond it.

Clean lines and an open plan create a natural flow from the kitchen to the living room, and from the living room straight out to the garden.

Nothing feels closed off. Nothing feels forced.

Light moves through the spaces. Views continue. And the connection to the outdoors is always there.

Even standing at the kitchen sink, you’re looking out instead of looking at a wall.

That’s the difference between an open floor plan and a home that actually flows.

Good design is in the details. And yes, we’re going to notice them.

The right proportions. A mix of textures. Materials that feel good together. Lighting that knows when to make an entrance and when to stay quiet.

A bedroom that makes you want to cancel plans. A living room that says, stay awhile. A kitchen that manages to be beautiful without being precious.

Because a well designed space shouldn’t just look good in a photograph.

It should make you want to live in it.

And preferably never leave.

A cohesive palette doesn’t have to mean a predictable space.

Keeping a similar palette throughout creates a sense of continuity, while tile, wallpaper, texture and pattern bring in the moments that make each room feel considered and distinct.

The key is knowing where to repeat and where to introduce something unexpected. A familiar color can take on an entirely different character in a patterned wallpaper or a beautifully detailed tile.

Consistency creates the foundation. Layered materials create the interest.
