I wanted to get back to my roots on this one with some color wash texture, distressing, and some island influence. 🥭 No resin on this one.

"Tropical Decay" was created for the Mango Madness Show—inspired by overripe fruit, hurricane-felled trees, and the beauty that comes from weathering the elements.
Sometimes the imperfections tell the best story.

In the tropics, nothing stays perfect for long. Fruit ripens, falls, and returns to the earth. Trees weather storms, salt air, and endless sun. The woods we use come from hurricane-felled trees throughout the Florida Keys—trees that have already lived a full life before finding a second life in art.
The dripping mangoes represent that moment when beauty passes its peak and becomes part of the cycle again. The bold lines and colors reflect the contrast between nature's chaos and the paths we try to carve through it. Like a surfboard worn smooth by years of chasing waves, every mark tells a story of time well spent.

In the Keys, boats rot, paint fades, trees fall, and memories soften around the edges. Yet there is beauty in that process.

A few years ago, we built this piece from the famous Cuban mahogany salvaged from Pepe's Cafe after it was lost to a hurricane. One of our collectors who purchased it no longer has the room for it and asked if I’d share it here to help find it a new home.

Made from a single solid slab with a subtle resin accent on one side, it currently sits on hairpin legs that could easily be swapped to fit your style. It would make a great console table, small bar, or a piece of wall art.
