🎨 Can you guess this week’s Color of the Week?

This warm, earthy color from our Richeson Casein line sits somewhere between a golden yellow and a natural earth tone. It has enough warmth to bring a sunlit quality to a painting without becoming overly bright or saturated.

Its muted golden character makes it especially useful for landscapes, grasses, warm highlights, earth tones, underpaintings, and natural skin tones.

Pigment: PY42
Lightfastness: LF I (Excellent)
Series: 2
Opaque

💡 Pro Tip: Try it as a warm neutral mixing color. Use it to temper blues and violets while maintaining warmth in the mixture.

Three colors walk onto a palette…

Cobalt Blue. Cadmium Red Scarlet. Cadmium Yellow Light.

Earlier this year, we shared a three-color mixing reel, and you enjoyed seeing just how much range could come from such a limited palette.

So, we brought the idea back with this vibrant trio.

Bold primaries creating a surprisingly broad spectrum of color.

If these were the only three colors on your palette, which would you choose?

What’s mixing in today’s reel? 🎨

Casein Emulsion!

This is the base of casein paint—and the secret behind its unique working properties. Casein Emulsion can also be used as a medium, mixed with casein colors to improve flow and brushability without altering the paint’s other characteristics.

🎨 Color of the Week: Brilliant Green Light

Brilliant Green Light is a fresh, opaque green with a soft, light character. Its combination of Titanium White, Arylide Yellow, and Phthalo Green creates a clean, ready-to-use color that stays vibrant without the intensity of a pure phthalo mixture.

Pigment Info:
Pigment Codes: PW6 (Titanium White) + PY74 (Arylide Yellow) + PG36 (Phthalo Green)
Lightfastness: LF1 (Excellent)
Opacity: Opaque

💡 Pro Tip:
Use Brilliant Green Light for sunlit foliage, highlights, reflected light, or anywhere you need a lighter green without repeatedly mixing white into a more intense green.

Where would Brilliant Green Light find a place on your palette?

🏆 Richeson75 Winner Spotlight: Kelly Singleton

Congratulations to Kelly Singleton, Third Place winner in the 2025 Richeson75 Animals, Birds & Wildlife Competition.

Kelly is a wildlife artist whose work is rooted in close observation, patience, and a deep commitment to continually refining her craft. Among her artistic influences is renowned wildlife painter Robert Bateman.

For Kelly, artistic growth comes from accepting that improvement takes time and consistently putting in the work.

“There’s really no shortcut to taking your craft to the next level. The art world is a long game, and you have to be willing to keep showing up, experimenting, failing, learning, and doing the work, even when the motivation isn’t there.”

She believes that persistence is often what separates artists who continue developing from those who stop pushing themselves forward.

“I think the difference is often in that commitment to keep going and to never stop pushing the work a little further.

Kelly’s work will also be featured in two major exhibitions this year. She will participate in Western Visions at the National Museum of Wildlife Art from September 5 through September 27, 2026, followed by Small Works, Great Wonders at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum from November 7 through November 29, 2026.

We’re proud to recognize Kelly and congratulate her on earning Third Place in the 2025 Richeson75 Animals, Birds & Wildlife Competition.
