An alternative education setting for students who need more flexibility than a traditional school setting can provide. Compass Day Program, located at the King George Learning Center, provides home schooled students aged 11-18 years a place to pursue academics and interests through a membership-based organization. A staff member will support and facilitate the family provided home school program in an academic environment. Students will have:
Flexibility in attendance and duration
Dedicated academic support
Supervision in a calm, safe environment
A small community of learners
Ability to work at own pace
Breaks as needed
The ability to opt out of standardized testing
Ownership of their own learning
Resources for volunteer, intern and apprentice opportunities
Guidance for college entrance or other future pursuit
Public school isn’t for everyone and that’s ok

Our day program has a wide range of ages creating a one room schoolhouse vibe from yesteryear. Older students are quick to jump in and help the younger ones, outside playtime includes everyone.
If you would like to learn more about our small community of learners send a message or email to [email protected]. We’d love to show you how a flexible, low stress, supportive educational environment works.

Today we celebrate freedom because
WE THE PEOPLE means everyone 🇺🇸
Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and that enslaved people in Texas were free. While President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation declared freedom for enslaved people in Confederate states, it was not until the 13th Amendment was ratified on December 6, 1865, that slavery was fully abolished throughout the United States. In the decades that followed, Juneteenth observances spread across the country. In 2021, Juneteenth was established as a federal holiday.
At the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington D.C., the central feature is a bronze sculpture by artist Ed Hamilton titled The Spirit of Freedom. The work stands as a tribute to the United States Colored Troops and honors the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom during the Civil War.

The beauty of an assisted homeschool program is the flexibility to pursue one’s entrepreneurial ideas. Special thanks to our neighbors King George Tire for helping him get this assembled.
