Robotics Team 60
Robotics is a great program that is offered to KHS, KAHS, LWHS, K-12 Virtual, micro, online & home schooled kids.
Yesterday was the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Flying Fortress and Kingman FIRST Robotics Team 60 was there as a Kingman AZ Area Chamber of Commerce member to see this once in a lifetime experience which included a flyover by Sentimental Journey, one of three operational B-17’s left. We then shifted gears and headed to the Kingman Airport to support the Aviation Heritage Center of Kingman and the unveiling of “The Contraption” that we collaborated with them on. This flight simulator is a recreated working model of the “Gadget” that was used in the 1930’s. We also got to see our friend Jill and see the Sentimental Journey upclose! It was a great day!
While we didn’t win our category of Organization of the Year, we had a great night out! Truly we were honored to be in the final 3! Not gonna lie, we felt like fish outta water all dressed up and not wearing our signature blue and gold shirts - some people didn’t even recognize us! Lol Congratulations to all the winners of each category.
Honestly, it was great to be recognized, but it’s not why we do what we do. We love giving back to our community! For 30 years, Kingman residents and businesses have been supporting Kingman FIRST Robotics Team 60 and we truly appreciate it. More than that though, we love watching the kids that become part of the Team 60 family grow and find themselves. Our students don’t just build robots. They learn to work together, overcome failure, serve their community, and become the great people we know they can be. It’s just that simple.
After winning the 2026 Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors said “When you invest in a child, you are investing in everything that is possible for their future….None of this happens alone. It takes a village of teachers, principals, families, community partners, volunteers and everybody who believes that our kids are worth the very best….You have a platform, you have a voice, you have everything you need to make a true impact. I encourage you to find your Oakland. Find what makes you different and where you can make that impact.” We believe that Kingman FIRST Robotics Team 60 is OUR Oakland!
Thank you QC Mobile for the great hands-on presentation for the team! The kids loved using the equipment and trying to find cracks in the samples you brought! We loved sharing our story and robots and showing off our home! There truly are so many opportunities out there locally that our community aren’t aware of. You ROCK!
We love walking in the Andy Devine Parade each year! This year we also rode on the Kingman Chamber of Commerce float for the Andy Devine Awards finalists. Our very own Marlene represented Team 60 on the float for the Organization of the Year nomination we received. Four finalists from three of the categories were represented on the float - Wendy W for Citizen of the Year, Marty A and Joe D for Lifetime Achiever, and Marlene L (representing Kingman FIRST Robotics Team 60) for Organization of the Year! Good luck to all the finalists! Finished taking apart the float and headed back to the Mohave County Fair for the rest of the weekend! Busy times for us and it’s not even build season!

Meet Alex from Phoenix, AZ who’s here at the Mohave County Fair with his son (who is learning to take over the business). They have what you would call “authentic fair food”! Fried everything and yummy lemonade! Prices range from $10 for a huge basket of fries or $10 for chicken tenders alone or combo plates in the range of $20-$23. They have never been here before and usually can be seen at northern CA or Oregon fairs. Let’s show them some Kingman love and welcome them to our city!

Meet Sassy’s Sweets and Sassy’s Rootbeer! This is their first time at the Mohave County Fair and their first time this far west from their home of Winslow, AZ. If you want something sweet for a GREAT price, this is your place! Mindy said they try to keep their prices low so a family of four can walk up and get something for everyone. I can attest to the great taste of their goodies and prices are very affordable. Make sure to stop by and welcome them to our city and show them some Mohave County love!
