I’m old enough to remember 9/11, where I was; just four years old, the day still remains vivid in my mind 25 years later.

I remember my mother picking me up early from preschool in a calm panic, trying to hide what was clearly concern and fear. I remember going to the Elementary School to pick up my sister and the principal asking my mother, “How many kids can you take?” I remember more kids than seats, piling into our minivan (thinking it was so cool to see all the kids I looked up to). I remember my mother telling me to go upstairs to my room (trying to shield my sister and I from seeing the TV as she watched the horror unfold), then hearing her call my father, in a panic. At the time, he was working in the US Steel Building in downtown Pittsburgh (the tallest building in the city). By that point, the fourth plane was believed to be in our area, and no one knew if Pittsburgh was a target. I remember President George W. Bush giving an address, from an undisclosed location, and thinking to myself, “This must’ve been pretty serious (still clueless of the seriousness of it), but it sounds like we’re gonna be okay.”

25 years later; that just doesn’t seem possible that it’s already been THAT long.

2,977 Americans killed. Countless others whose lives were changed forever; from injuries sustained in the rubble during the cleanup, to men and women who then decided to serve overseas.

As I talk to people younger than me this week, most don’t remember that day, or weren’t even alive for it. Meanwhile, most who do remember that day would say they wish they didn’t.

I’m grateful to remember what I do, because to me, it’s a yearly reminder that ensures I will never forget the gravity of that day.

I pray that American will never forget.

A great man who encouraged political discourse in a time when no one wants to speak with those they disagree with. He didn't deserve the ending he got, but it's up to all of us to maintain that legacy of discourse that he left behind.

Today, we remember Charlie Kirk's legacy.

He inspired a generation of young Americans to get involved, speak their minds freely, debate ideas vigorously, and never apologize for standing up for their convictions.

He lived by those same values, and one year ago today, he lost his life for it. Political violence has no place in this country, no matter who it targets.

May God bless Erika and their children, and may the generation Charlie inspired never stop speaking up.

What a 2025 it’s been!

From a new job and a new place, to upgrading to uncle status, to friends, family, and loved ones; 2025 was an incredible year, especially after a very tough 2024. God is good, and I’m looking forward to 2026!
