SETE DE ABRIL GOSPEL CRUSADE, MOZAMBIQUE

FRIDAY - Sete de Abril is a township just outside Chimoio in central Mozambique. Our Team had worked together with the local pastors and churches preparing the crusade. Everything had worked very well according to plan and then suddenly just before the crusade an unexpected weather pattern came on all over the central African region. It rained incessantly for several days and the temperatures were very low. The first two nights of our crusade were washed out because of the nonstop rain. One good thing though was that the field we had chosen for the crusade has very porous soil. Because of this there were no accumulation of large pools of water that would stay for days as in some other places. As the rain came the water was immediately absorbed into the ground. Then last evening (Friday) the rain stopped in the evening. Our team had already set up our equipment except our platform speakers They rushed over to the field and got everything going quickly. So I could preached last evening! The people of the Township were not expecting us to start preaching due to the bad weather but when they heard the sound of her PA system our singers singing, people began to come out and we had a nice little crowd to preach to.

The people braved the cold and damp weather to come out to hear the Gospel. Many people gave their lives the Lord Jesus and we also saw many people line up to testify of the things that the Lord had done for them.

An older man who was completely paralyzed in his right arm and hand since birth was totally healed. He excitedly moved his arm and his hand, saying that his arm and hand had hung uselessly on his side his entire life and now he could move them and use them. A young girl had a very large tumor growing just above her abdomen. The tumor was so large that she could actually touch it from the outside. She said that Jesus had completely taken the tumor away. Then there was a young woman who had great difficulties walking. Jesus healed her and she ran and showed us that she was healed. Then there were a number of people whose deaf ears had been opened and others who testified that the Lord had healed them from different diseases and infirmities.

We all the glory to our Lord Jesus that we could start preaching last night and that we saw people give their lives to Jesus and God do miracles in our midst. Thank you for standing with us and praying for us. We have two more nights to go here in Sete de Abril.

There are lots of reels and videos on Facebook and Youtube showing remarkable manifestations from meetings held by different people in various parts of the world.

In many such videos we see masses of people falling to the ground, going into seemingly uncontrollable spasms, shrieking, shouting. I could go on and on and make a list of the things that I have seen.

The comments of the people about these videos range from "Hallelujah!", "This is the anointing!" Etc.

So I would like to share here how I view these things. You don't have to look at these things the same way as I do, but here it is:

I look at the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in the ministries of Jesus and the Apostles in the Gospels and the Book of Acts. I read about lame people walking, blind eyes seeing, the dead hearing, the dead being raised up, food being multiplied etc.

That for me is the gold standard and the yardstick by which I measure things. Do we read about these jerking falling shrieking manifestations happening when Jesus or the Apostles ministered to the people? Anything outside of the Scriptures does not impress me. For me if something is not in the Bible it could be of any unknown origin: It could be legitimate, but it also be deceptive, familiar spirits, and a plethora of other things. 95% of the time it is pure flesh with people switching on their learned Charismatic behavior.

That is why I try to stay with the Bible. Here I am in Africa. We don't have people falling into spasms and screaming unless they have demons coming out of them; but we see the lame walk, the blind see, the deaf hear all the time. On some occasions we have seen the dead raised up. A few times we have seen the entire field of people fall down to the ground.

So we want to stay as close to the Scriptures as we can. We have always found great safety in sticking to the Bible.

That is why most of these spectacular videos that I see on Youtube and Facebook dont impress me.

GORONGOSA GOSPEL CRUSADE, MOZAMBIQUE

SUNDAY- This was the last night of the Gorongosa Gospel Crusade. The Lord moved in a mighty way. Many gave their lives to the Lord Jesus and the Lord healed many people.

A man who was completely blind and could only see shadows from about 18 inches away was healed and began to see. A man whose arms had hung useless and immoveable for seven years because of witchcraft was totally delivered and could move and use his arms again. Another man who was paralyzed on the right side of his head and face and whose right arm was also paralyzed was totally healed when Jesus touched him. Another man who could not move or clench his right hand was made whole. Then there were several people whose deaf ears were opened. A woman who had great difficulties moving and walking began to run. Others testified of different things that the Lord had done for them.

What a wonderful Lord and Saviour we serve! All Glory to our Lord Jesus who saves, heals and sets people free. What a privilege it is for us to serve Him!

We now start our next Crusade tomorrow, the township of Sette de Abril in Chimoio. Our Africa Team is getting things ready. Let us believe God for a good Harvest of souls!

Our School of Ministry also starts tomorrow. Pastor and Mrs Edwin and Angela Anderson shall be teaching the Pastors.

GORONGOSA, MOZAMBIQUE - SUNDAY

HOW CAN WE TELL?

There is a young lady who claims to be an apostle and has come under a lot of scrutiny these days. Then there are a some preachers in India, Pakistan, and in Africa who are drawing large crowds and have also come under scrutiny.

There are quite a number of such people who draw big crowds and have become famous. So how can we tell who is trustworthy and who isn't?

Reports of miracles are not enough, because some pay people to testify of "fake miracles". Then there are supernatural manifestations because there are "preachers" who operate in familiar spirits. There are also those who mix Christian concepts with witchcraft practices. It is very dangerous!

So how can we tell right from wrong. We should check for certain things when we look at these "preachers":

1. Are they strong in teaching and preaching from the Bible, or are they light on the Bible but heavy on "supernatural manifestations"?

2. Do they stay strictly with the Bible or do they preach personal "revelations" that are outside of the Scriptures?

3. Do they preach the Lord Jesus and His Cross and does their preaching carry a message of Salvation for sinners?

4. Do they give Altar Calls and invite people to receive Christ?

5. Do they put an emphasis on people giving money and "sowing seed" in order to receive healing and miracles from God?

These are some of the things we should be looking at, as they serve as indicators to help us see the difference between the good and the bad.

I hold on to the Word of God when the Prophet Isaiah, and the Apostles Peter and Matthew all declare the same thing, that our Lord Jesus bore upon His own self all our sins and all our diseases, and that by His wounds we were healed.

Sin and disease are therefore not part of our inheritance and should have no place in our lives. We should always speak and declare righteousness, health and healing over our lives and our families every single day. We should also rebuke and curse sin and disease at every turn, and speak and declare victory over these evils every day.

This is part and parcel of the Gospel. We call it the "Full Gospel" because the cross of Jesus provided for the whole man, for all of our needs in spirit, in soul, and in the body.

Even if our experiences in this life are sometimes to the contrary; what we preach, affirm and believe is always what the Word of God says. We do not allow human experiences that are contrary to the Word of God to determine our theology and our beliefs.

That is why one powerful aspect of faith is "Calling those things that be not as though they were" (Rom 4:17), and to lay claim and to declare and possess the blessings of the Cross just because our Lord Jesus purchased them for us with His blood. The Word of God declares that they are ours !

"Remember this, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit and miracles and power are great, but what really activates them is the love of God. The love of God compels us."

Flying on All Nippon NH11 on my way to Tokyo ......

I am not an MMA fan but I watched an interesting short video clip on my phone.

A famous champion MMA fighter was held in a impossibly tight choke by his strong opponent. Everybody expected him to tap out in submission. Then as he was about to pass out, he caught sight of his father who loved him very much on the ringside cheering him on.

Seeing his father cheering him on suddenly gave him an infusion of strength. He somehow squeezed out of the chokehold and turned the tables around on his opponent and in seconds put him in a tight chokehold.

His opponent then tapped out in submission and he was victorious.

After the fight he was asked why he did not tap out. His answer in broken English was "you think I am gonna tap out in front of my father?"

I suddenly saw something there!

You may feel that the devil has a chokehold on you and you are being defeated. But then you look and see our Father watching you. He believes in you. His eyes are full of love and He is cheering you on.

That look in our Father's eyes. His Word and His Spirit cheering you on, infuses you with Holy Ghost Power. With newfound strength you then turn the tables on the enemy and overcome.

My friend, refuse to tap out. Instead look up. Jesus is at the right hand of God cheering you on! He believes in you!

The Father is watching us. Jesus is cheering us on! We will win!
