One of the biggest things I tell families dealing with an inherited property is to get information before making decisions.
Who has authority to make decisions for the estate? What is the home actually worth? Is there a mortgage or other debt? Does someone want to keep it? Could it become a rental? Should repairs be made? What would selling it as-is look like?
Those questions can be answered one at a time.
And please don't feel like calling a real estate agent means you've decided to sell. It doesn't.
My job at this stage is to help you understand the real estate side of your options so your family can make an informed decision, and to connect you with the appropriate professionals when something falls outside my lane.
